It's time to hold a new contest! The "Virtual Villagers Best Captioned Picture Contest II" !

How to participate:
* Take a screenshot of your little villagers (has to be of VV2) and add a caption.
* Attach your screenshot to this thread or the one called Your Pictures of VV:TLC in the Virtual Villagers: The Lost Children forums.
* We will of course consider the screenshots already submitted in the thread called "Your Pictures of VV:TLC" (in the Virtual Villagers: The Lost Children forums), therefore, if you have posted a screenshot you don't need to submit the image again.
* You can submit more than one image, if you want.


Every screenshot will be examined by us at ldw.com and we will pick what we think are the 5 best captioned pictures. We will have a first prize among the 5 best pictures.

Here are the prizes:
1st place: 1 Ipod Nano 2GB
2nd,3d, 4th, 5th place: A Virtual Villagers t-shirt

The winners will be posted here on our website at the end of April!

NOTE: Here is how you take a screenshot of your game:

In Windows
Press the "Prt Scr" button (close to the F12 button) and then paste it into an image editing program, such like MS Paint or Adobe Photoshop.

In Mac OS
Simultaneously press Command+Shift+3 to capture the
entire screen or Command+Shift+4 to allow you to
select a region with your mouse to capture (by dragging
over a desired area of the screen). The screen shot will automatically be saved and placed
on your desktop.

If you have your own image uploader account (like photobucket or imageshack), upload the image there and use the UBBCode to display the pictures. Otherwise just attach the picture on your post.

Can we edit the image files for this contest? Just curious as to how much would be allowed, with mods and even changing files just for this contest.

I'm using Windows. I pressed the "Prt Scr" button but nothing happened! Can you help me?

You have to paste it into an image editing program. There are more details in Carla's first post at the beginning of this topic.

After you press the Print Screen button (on PC) you have to goto your image editor (i.e. photoshop or paint) and CTRL+V or Edit > Paste and the screen capture will be pasted Yay! I was useing paint because i'm not cool enough to have photoshop.. and For some reason I had to "Select All" before I pasted, or it didn't work.. But then again... lots of things don't work on PCs!
Now i am just trying to upload to photobucket and i can finally post my wicked-awesome screen captures!!!!

BTW I am new to this forum.. but i'm lovin it more than McDonalds!

I took these cause Hes not just relaxing, hes litteraly slacking off cause he was on his way to do laundry, but never made it there, and went off to do these other things. these were all taken over a period of an hour, hes still carrying it around and that was yestrday.

I got an event called the heat wave. And my whole entire village went for a swim.

The caption for this is "OMG - I'm a villager - Get me out of here!" Yes, I like I'm a celeberity - get me out of here!! LOL.

Open paint, then edit paste. You will then get the picture on screen. Do what you need to and save it.

How are you adding the speech boxes? I still have to learn how to do the Print Screen and save. I am far from gifted when it comes to the computer. Every time they ask for a url I look at the screen dumbfounded.And that isn't just a look.When they ask for a url are they talking about who my internet provider is or what? Or who my email provider is?

In order to add the speech boxes and text, you have to use an image editing program, such as Microsoft Paint or Adobe Photoshop. You can see my instructions for posting pictures here.

A url is basically an Internet address and is in the form of http://www.ldw.com (a very simple url example). Every Internet page has a unique url, and the url that the forum is asking you for is, in essence, the Internet address of your picture (see the post I referred to above for more information).

I have many ideas(funny mini-stories) to make it in flash, but its hard a bit.
I shall make it thus:
First, I make one mini-story then you estimate it and I in the meantime shall do others mini-stories.
It is possible to connect them, but i do this only when i done SOME or more mini-stories in flash.

P.S. Dont mind too much about my English. I am only learning) My writing is average, but i ALL can understand)

P.S.S. One stupid question: where i can host a swf file?

But seriously one thing to think about is not so much where it can be hosted but if you can even post an SWF file on this board. SWF's are embedded and they do not work with the UBB [img] tag. I know, I tried. Any animation I have done in flash, I have had to save as an animated GIF file, like my "signature" and this.


This may not be such a good idea for what I think you have planned. Hopefully the thread you post to will have HTML enabled and not just UBB codes.

This is very true. SWF's will do sound that make your presentation more interesting. A link to another site that is hosting your file would work too. I was figuring you wanted it to display within your post but links will work just as well. I cannot wait to see what you come up with.

I am currently working on a flash file with a VV2 character. It is simple animation but for what I want it to do I have to animate it frame by frame so he walks across the screen correctly. I am up to 55 frames and am almost finished. But again, I want it to be displayed in my post so that means I have to save it as a GIF. Once I get the walk finished, I will draw the background myself and put it all together. If your dragon avitar doesn't burn up my monkey's maybe I can share it with you LOL
