V V 2 - What's going on?? What is causing the villagers to suddenly have duplicate names? Is anyone else experiencing this? Is this yet another glitch that will be corrected with the "patch" everyone is anticipating? BTW, is it out yet?

We hope that the name changing glitch will be fixed with the patch (and no, it is not out yet), but we do not know that it will be. They've said that is a hard one to figure out, and that they are working hard to find it. And actually, they have not said exactly what would be fixed in the patch. So we will just have to wait and see.

We are still working on the update, and it hasn't been released yet. This particular _bug_ will probably not be corrected in the update, however, since we are unable to recreate it on our development computers. For more information, see this post.

The only time I change the names is when there are dupes, but I'm starting to have 3 of most names. If as suggested in that link it only happens for names that have changed, then I'm digging a deeper hole by renaming those dupes?

I also have children who are son or daughter of "?". But I have no one named "?".

It's not uncommon for villagers to have the same name, and it's not this _bug_ unless those villagers are right next to each other in the details screen "rotation" and one of those villagers was 'born' with a different name. Just like I know a bunch of guys named John and Bill, the game often assigns the same name to two different villagers.

There are two ways to have children show a parent with a name of ? - one is the result of banging the gong, and the other is the result of an Island Event. Neither of those are bugs.

Yes, there is one, it is the one who received a coconut on the head (it's an "event"!)! and now he can't remember his name

When I leaf through all the villagers I don't find him. I was wondering if it is because the dad is dead? But I think the dead dads just aren't shown in parentage.

Maybe the "?" recovered from his amnesia and the parentage wasn't updated?

If it was the result of the gong, you won't find him. If the father was the victim of the coconut tree event, he may have been elderly when he fathered the child and had passed on to the great village in the sky by the time you noticed the ?.

Parents' details are only shown for villagers up to the age of 18. It makes no difference if a parent is dead, though. I had one case where an event turned a 70-year-old Elder into a 5-year-old girl. Her long-dead parents were still displayed.

Yes, you can see the picture of the parent up to 18, but you can know their name (in putting your "hand" on the picture) only up to 14! (sorry for my english!)

Yesterday I had a "gong event" that grant the life (I don't remember exactly the word). And 4 girls of my tribe became pregnant!
And to day, the 4 kids have their mother and, as father, a guy, who doesn't exist in my tribe, named "?". The same one for all the 4 kids
Now, do I know the face of the "Guiding Hand"?

Look in a mirror for the face of the Guiding Hand. Even the Guiding Hand doesn't know what the gong will do when struck.

Again, in an other tribe and this time the "Gong Master" has 7 children!! Here is one of them: (the "Father" has the same look! I like it, he looks like my brother!)

In my village i had 11 babies from the "gong master" lol.
