The kid just stands there on the water, shuffling a bit, imagining that he's reaching for coconuts or watching the scientists work. He stayed there up until I shut down the game.

PS: Here's another one. This time, poor Ahote is stuck on the roof!

What's funny is that Fungo Puyason is stuck somewhere *every single time* I turned on the game. He's gotten stuck in the hospital, behind the gong, and just about every inconvenient place in the village. (I was amazed that he could walk on water as a kid, though!)

Ok, here's another thing that freaked me out.

I've heard First Nations legends where someone gives birth to puppies (the BC coast is home to some of the weirdest legends---from a non-native perspective, of course), but nursing two *fish*?!?

(Speaking of fish, Terina, I hope you're not affected by the flood/flood warnings in BC?)

LMAO, ohh wow, theres a few glitched like that when the game confuses what the villager is supposed to be carring or not carriing, so no worries, if it bugs you, you can just close the game and restart and the game should reset itself. lol. good pic though.

I swear I have a running man that "hides" behind a totem. I know he is doing it on purpose, because it is always the same Totem, and if I move it, the message line says he is "Running away". I just renamed him "Hiding Guy". He is the funniest one I have had in 5 games!

I think that's the default number when you pause the game. laugh

But yeah, I had a double-take on that too.

Yes thats the number the game defaults to when you pause and then check details on nursing mothers. its funny to see but its normal, just unpause and it will show you the real time.

Pinkfish: Yeah, it seems that sometimes people confuse the object they're carrying with a baby (I'm scared about people who can't tell their laundry from their kid!). I've had people "nursing" laundry, a bowl of water, a bowl of vegetables, etc. I guess this person magically conceived twins while carrying fish, which is why she had two fish. Makes me wonder if you'd get someone to "nurse" three bundles of laundry, if they "magically conceive" triplets while doing laundry?

on start up all sorts of funny things happen

if i had to guess, i would say that Zola was carrying twins, then on start up, the game looked at the fact that she is a farmer and thought she should be fishing, but since she was already nursing twins, the game gave her two fishies instead

i love startup just for these reasons, they are hysterical!

Mothers who are sick sometimes display wrongly, as well. Usually it means their babies just disappear, to appear in their arms again magically once they are healed. Sometimes, however, people have reported the wrong object being displayed, like a fish. People here have posted a couple of screenshots of such instances in the past.

It doesn't seem to be a very common glitch, but I remember spotting a villager by the hospital and I saw that she was sick, so I brought over a doctor to heal her. I then dragged her to the field as she was a farmer. She just stood there dumbly and a baby suddenly appeared; her details showed that she had only about half an hour to go. The same sort of thing happening on start-up is probably slightly more common, but still not frequent, certainly not worth worrying about.

Sometimes, when you bring a healer (male) near a sick villager (female), (or vice versa) he is mistaken and kiss her. If you move them just after, you don't see them going indoor and, among other noise, you did not hear the kiss. It can be an explanation
Also, it happen to me when I bring 2 villagers on the same task!

Well that would be your lost PF. \:\) I've been on this board for over two years now, and I know for a fact that LDW does not operate in the way you commented. Arthur and Carla are the example of how software studios should be and act. They are hard working, honest peeps who are loyal to their customers. It sounds like you are talking about M$ and not LDW. ;\) It would be great if it was possible to sell a piece of software that is 100% glitch free, but that just does not happen, especially in a AI game like VV. Each action a villager does is caused or is influenced by a lot of different conditions; it makes it very time consuming to identify the cause that creates the glitch. Couple this with publishers making them release the game quicker then the developers would like, they have no other alternative. Therefore ALL AI game makers will release their games with all kinds of AI glitch in them. Most gamers (like myself) don't mind these glitches and even enjoy them, as it is comical most of the times. So long as they do not affect the game play, it's all-good. Please understand this. I’m not attacking you, but when you insult LDW I think it is good to hear something from the other side. Although I don’t know Arthur and Carla personally, I’ve come to know them on this board and have seen how they operate. And they do not operate in the manor you are suggesting.

Peace!

That might happen sometimes, laurence, but generally the sick mother shows less time than the usual (120 minutes at 2X, and so on) for nursing in the details screen, so she must have had the baby some time before.

I agree. PF the silly glitches are what makes this game fun and give great fun screenshots.
LDW definitely do not operate the way you say, if they did they wouldn't have started this forum, and wouldn't monitor it for ideas for improvement!!!!!
If you are that unhappy, just delete the game and give up as you're dragging me down.

I think people have just as much right to post about what they are unhappy with as they do to post what they're happy about.

And no software should be knowingly released with big problems. Sometimes they might have to let the small stuff slide (temporarily), but a buyer shouldn't be expected to have to keep up with patches and stuff to have a game that functions correctly. Some people might have only dial-up or no internet. Or not think about going on the internet to find fixes for already-released products. When you buy something, it should work right. I know it won't always, but you shouldn't just expect less.

Frankly, a lot of these glitches (getting stuck exercising (so no building skill gained), getting stuck back and forth near the mosaic so no increased healing skill, and getting stuck behind the hospital) really annoy me. They do not "make the game fun" - they make it irritating.

I like VV and VV2, but (just from reading old posts) if Village Sim had been my first experience with LDW, I'd not be wanting to buy anything else from them.

And this is a forum for game discussion, not just game praise or LDW praise.

Tzigone, I hear what you are saying. In a perfect world all software would be released _bug_ free, but we don’t live in a perfect world since Adam eat some fruit. \:\) And if a large corporation like M$ can’t release error free code, then I don’t know who can. If you realized the amount of code that goes into an AI program, maybe you would understand. I do agree with you with respect to not releasing software with big problems, and that is one of my gripes with M$. They do it all the time. But I don’t think there are any “big” problems in VV2. But to me moving the villagers off certain areas after initial startup is not a big deal to me.

I also agree that this forum is for game discussion, good and bad, but if someone wrongly attacks the motives of LDW, well that is called slander. And knowing the peeps at LDW they will not get stoop down to his/her level. But I will! ;\)

Hope this helps you understand my position a little better.

Peace dude. \:\)

No-one has ever said it was. If it were, then posts like yours and Pinkfish's would be deleted by the admins straight away and you might even find yourself locked out. I've been to several software forums where they don't take kindly to even mild criticism and remove anything that is even slightly derogatory straight away. I've not stayed long, and stopped using their software whenever possible.

You have a perfect right to post about what you are unhappy with, but should realise that few people agree with you.

thank you arnie but Like you I'm British and have an opinion I am a games tester for reflexive arcade .. and if I took a garment back to top shop because I was dissatisfied I would expect a refund... the customer is always right .. dontcha know ... and I work in customer service ... Arnie tut tut.. we are not all married to LDW and have freedom to play the games we want ... I am currently playing well its a secret I'm testing it But I still play the best game ever which I bought on disc Roller coaster tycoon 3, but I still complained to atari that the patch they had was only workable for the USA version ,,, and a year on still no Europe patch! it makes me mad I feel ripped off .. and I still play sol suite .. Nancy Drew games.. MCF all of them...so give me some freedom, I didn't break any racial. bad language code, I just have my opinion as a paying customer .. as I am allowed that!

A lot of us praise LDW because we genuinely like the company and how it works.

I hate pest control because of how they dump chemicals in the ground. But I found a company who was working hard to stop those practices, to find a clean, efficient way to control termites. I worked with the company through the hardest times, through the first years, when there was no client base, when no one understood the treatment process. I watched my boss grow an amazing company because he really cared about his customers, because he went the extra mile (or in once case the extra 78 miles) to take care of the customers. I learned to love that kind of business, and I never thought I would find another like it. I watched that business grow from a few clients to a few thousand clients- with NO advertising... it was all word of mouth.

I'm a teacher now, and I take lessons from Larry. I go the extra mile to make sure my kids are safe, and happy, and learning. I love and respect every one of them, no matter how hard it is. I have a repuation as a trouble maker because I am always fighting our admin over what is best for the children. We are all looking out for the bottom line, the difference is that I think the bottom line is the kids, and they think its the budget.

LDW is not just concerned with the budget. They are not trying to fleece anyone, get away with our money. This company cares about what we think, about how we feel about the games. If the company was only concerned about the money, the negative posts would be gone in a heartbeat. The forums would not be here.

There are some glitches, but look at the kind of games... This is not some simple puzzle point and click game. This is complicated coding. There are minor glitches, and they are working on it.

I am postive that it is taking longer because they don't want you to have to keep up with patches- prefering that there be one that covers it.

The problem I have with some posts is that the negativty is not constructive. The same gripes are being stated again and again, seemingly in the hopes to stir up trouble or in an attempt to get something for nothing.

Everyone does have the right to their own opinion. The problem is not the opinion being expressed, but how it is being expressed. Remember being a kid and having mom say "Its not WHAT you say, but HOW you say it"? I know that on my part, it is becoming hard to tolerate the libel (not slander, slander is verbal, libel is in print :P ).

It will not put me off the forums, because I love them and respect the company entirely too much for that (not to mention the many many awesome people active here), and I am sure that most of us feel the same way. So please, if you want to express your opinions, go ahead, but think about what is being said. If you have said it before, it has been read, it has been noted. Harping on it will do no good. Like my mom always says "Nobody likes a negative nelly!"

Sorry if i got a bit soapboxy here.

The problem, Pinkfish, is not criticism; it is the snide carping which is seemingly ad infinitum, and definitely ad nauseam.

Odd little fact... did you all know it took 5 years for nintendo to release the now beloved mario brothers? the game was so messed up and soo full of glitches you couldnt run it for more then an hour, and as a recovering mario 4 pack addict, that would just not do. 5 years people..... and LDW got this game out for us in what,, a year? beta testing and all. I think were lucky the game runs at all let alone having to deal with villagers carrying the wrong thing, or being stuck in a place they shouldnt be(which isnt hard to correct when your hand works on the mouse)

One person is allowed their views just as much as anyone else, and berrading each other in the forums is a waste of precious village time.

and pinkfish, if you want a refund, contact the game servers you bought it from and they will refund, all you have to do is ask. You cant expect the peeps here to refund your money when you didnt but it from them, you bought it either from bigfish or reflexive. so ask them for a refund if you want one.

personally i paid $6.99 with my bigfish game club account, if i didnt like the game, its a cost worth tossing.

edited: i wouldnt toss this game though,, just thought id add that.

Sorry to break up the discussion guys, but I feel possessive about threads I start; and I think the discussion of bugs, the game developers, etc. are better addressed in the General Discussion forum instead.

I personally found those bugs kind of amusing. Sure, they can be annoying, but they also make for hilarious screenshots. \:\)

(And note that woman on the bottom who was waking *towards* the sea with the fish. Obviously, she's helping feed the rescue workers.)
