Hi everyone I have been lurking here for sometime put this is my 1st post. Tonight I had a red pebble show up and my children were unable to pick it up. Has anyone else had this experience or know why i couldn't get them to retrieve it? Thanks!

Sometimes you have to position the child differently. I find that slightly above and to the left of the item works best for me.
Sometimes right as you get the child on the item, the item's timer expires and even though it remains visible for a short period of time, it actually is not really there.
There is an exploit that will be fixed with the upcoming patch so I do not feel bad telling you since you lost a red pebble maybe this will make it up to you: If you are quick, when you first see a collectible or a mushroom appear, pause the game and put 4 or more kids on it and you will collect more than one of the item.
I hope Arthur does not ban me (yikes!) but once I was fortunate and had a whole line of kids playing "tag" (they are actually playing follow the leader, not tag, but the game calls it "tag") right next to a very rare collectible. I paused the game and put a dozen kids on it and got over 20k in tech points.
