It's usually a good idea (and recommended by many developers) to reset or restart your device after installing or updating applications. This is not unique to Virtual Families but occurs with many applications after installing new software. Resetting the device frees up application memory, which is used by the device to run all programs. It is not the same memory that is used to store your content (music, apps, email, etc.), and your device does not display the amount of application memory available. The larger the application, the more likely you are to encounter problems unless you reset the device. The following procedures provide the steps for both restart and reset of the device.

Usually a simple restart is all that is required to restore proper operation to all installed applications.

Restarting and Resetting

If something is not working right, restarting or resetting your device will likely solve the problem.

Restart:

Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button until the red slider appears. Slide your finger across the slider to turn off your device. To turn the device back on, press and hold the Sleep/Wake until the Apple logo appears.

Reset:

Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button at the same time for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.

NOTE: Some customers have reported resolving the problem by deleting VV2 from their device and reinstalling it.

If the game continues to crash after performing the above procedures, please send a support form (click "No" below), and let us know whether you're using an iPhone or iPod touch, how many applications are installed on your device, and whether the reset procedure had any effect on the crashes.
