This seems like a _bug_ too me. I went into the supplies area to look around and did not purchase anything as I only had $288. When I left the supplies section, it had automatically purchased the insta-grow chemical for $250 leaving me with only $38. I was really enjoying the game up until this point as this caused a major set back in my finances. Has anyone else had this problem?

None of the testers reported that kind of problem at any time during the beta test, and I haven't seen that, either. Are you sure you didn't accidentally click on the "Buy" button when you were reading descriptions in the shop? It's very easy to do (I do it all the time).

I am sure I didn't accidentally click on buy. When I was in the supply shop, I did not even look at the insta-grow, I just looked at the various upgrades available.

Do you remember the exact sequence of actions that led to the problem? Since we have never seen that kind of problem before, it would help to know exactly how it happened. Arthur is far more likely to find and fix a _bug_ if we can reproduce it.
