I do not want to make more babies and have women over 50 who are adapt parents - how do I make them masters because it the only thing they need to be an elder. Yes, I tried mating them for a long time but their bar NEVER moved. Also I had the "leader" of my tribe so close to becoming an elder the only thing he needed was more building I kept puting him back to repair the huts but I never succeeded - he died - any suggestion once everything is cleared and built because I have another villager in the same position? Also how do you make a master doctor? My villager is moved occassionally to studying the herbs, fixing the stew, and healing everyone who sick, I even had an illness but she still is at adept -- uggh!

I know these are a lot of questins but any help would be appreciated. Thanks :-)

Parents -- you can have them teach or read to your children; you can have them speed kiss.

Doctors -- you can make a stew that makes people sick and your "doctor" can heal them.

Builders -- you can make a stew that will make them want to exercise. If they are successful, they will gain in building experience.

It takes time, I know it gets to you at times, but keep with it and you will have your masters.

As far as the women over 50, in the game they can't have children anymore, even though in real life a woman can. A 60 year old woman just had twins, so why these little villagers can't have babies past this age baffles me. But, I digress. Just click them on parenting and they will be masters before too long. I know, the blue tube seems to get stuck forever without moving, very frustating.

As to master doctors, I have given up. I hate making everyone sick with the stew

The difficulty with doctors is that as they go around studying the different strange plants, they easily get stuck in one of the sticky patches and need rescue. That tends to hold up their advancement.

I think it's mostly doctors that get stuck.

This only happens while the game is open. When the game is closed they have no trouble.

how do you have a adept parent you want to become a master parent teach the children?

As for my vilager she passed before I could make her an elder even with the speed kissing. She was my favorite and I grieved for her - I know silly over a game but I cared for her and she was always busy -never seemed to take time for the pond or any type of loafing off

To teach the children, just drop an adept parent on one of the kids. They will all (well, mostly) gather in a group just to the right of the fire. The parent will go to the science hut, pick out an object (fish, basket of laundry, clump of grass, etc), go and stand in front of the children, and deliver a lecture on it. Provided they succeed in keeping the kids' attention, they will gain parenting skill.

Similarly, villagers who are not at adept level in parenting, when dropped on a kid, will start telling a story to a smaller group of children. They, too, will gain parenting skills if successful.

Amaya, sorry about your villager. Do you have your game set at 1/2 speed? If not, this will slow down time so they don't age as fast.

Also, FYI, there is an event that gives a child parenting skills.

Arnie, correct me if I'm wrong; but, isn't there a gong event that gets you a master parent.

What is speed kissing?

Speed kissing is where u constantly drop a villager on another villager to gain parenting skill.

I don't think there's a specific gong event, but there is the "gives knowledge" one, which makes the villager a master in a skill. The only times I've seen it for certain, the villager has become a master in either research or parenting. It may of course make some villagers masters in other skills; I've just not seen it happen.

i've had it make a villager master in farming and building but not healing.

I have another few question and spend a lot of time searching the forums but did not find the answer - apologize if I miss it.

I have level three medicine and my people still die at the age of 75 to 78 sometimes younger...(even with the healthy stew) Am I missing a tech to improve their life span. I only have to buy level three culture and exploration. I did put them on half speed hoping I could get an answer before more pass away.

Also my population went up twice to two different couple but no baby - is this a computer glitch?

And I have mother washing their babies at the fire or anywhere- never had this happen until I had an tech problewm with my first game and had to completely uninstall and reinstall I beleive I read from Lady CFII that is might be a computer glitch - please let me know if I am wrong - any way to correct it?

The "no baby" is probably just the game failing to update the graphics. Happens all the time to me if I didn't let them go into the hut. Exit the game and restart it, and the baby will be there. Or, if you have another tribe, try going to that tribe and then coming back, because that sometimes fixes it. Or you could just wait. The baby will appear eventually, usually after the mother does something like swimming, etc. You could try throwing the mother into the ocean or pond, although that doesn't always work.

The opposite happens, too. The baby is 2 years old and running around, but the mother is still washing it or changing it.

Around 75 and just over seems to be the normal lifespan of the villagers with all the tech levels, just as it is in real life (in the developed world, anyway). A few will probably live longer, again just as in RL. Sorry, I don't understand what you mean here. How do you know the baby was these particular villagers', perhaps another mother had a baby just at that moment? Does the fact that she is nursing appear in the mother's details?

Don't forget the action line changes as soon as a villager decides on a course of action. The mother may have decided to wash her baby, but not have started off to the stream yet. You'll often see these seemingly contradictory actions, such as farmers who have given up fishing in the ocean and decided to enjoy the pond instead showing the "enjoying the pond" line while they are still swimming to the ocean shore. Barbara can give a better answer than I can, but I doubt this has any connection with having to reinstall.

I was breeding one couple and the population count went up and they disappeard into the "love shack" she came out and I expected to see a baby - but there was none! I tried breeding them again - this time the count went up again and after she reappearing from the "love shack" she a one baby in hand. This happened to another couple also.(I thought maybe a twin glitch since I have not been lucky enough to have any this game) I keep a close count of my villagers (even who breeds with who - its like they are married-and the name of their offspring) and though the count is up I am two villagers short !! I did nothing to the computer after all the warning about the clock and those who timed warped I am extremely careful.

Thanks for letting me know the life span - I have read about villagers reaching 100 but I guess that is just luck. - I mistakenly thought they would live to be in their 80's after level 3 medicine

Tuna puzzler I am going to exit and restart the game to see if that helps but thes women already have another baby so we will see.

It took a while for my villager to live to 84 is it just luck. Some villagers are built stronger than others

Couple of questions on master parents:
Is there a certain number of times you should breed a women before the age of 50 to become a master parent?
Is there a certian method to use for going indoors (kissing method) and teaching the children after the age of 50 to improve parenting?

Just an update on my baby problem -
I mentioned that the population went up when I bred a couple but no baby appeared -I tried all the suggestions given above but nothing worked - well the baby appeared out of nowhere at the age of two - I call her "mystery child"- maybe she will be an elder: )

You can breed a woman past the age of 50 except she just won't have the babies.

The method i use to get master parents is get the person you want to get master parent and an fairly old villager of the oppisite gender. Then i drag the master parent-to-be constantly on to the older villager, and within about 10-15mins i will have a master parent. You can do this method at any age.

I have done that numerous times and it did not work for the two women I was trying to get to master parenting (both one step away from being elders). One I constanly mated with the esteem elder I bred her with when they were younger nothing happened - her bar did not move.
The other one I also uses an elder with but to no avail and then used a younger guy- again to no avail.

I spent over 20 mins on each women with the constant mating- then even used the teaching method - nothing happened : (

I thought maybe I was doing something wrong.

Are you sure that you was dropping the master-to-be on the villager all the time and not missing them??

The bar stays at the same place for a while just before they become master... how long did you stick to "speedkissing" the villager?

about 15-20 mins where spent just on "speed kissing' I spent hours trying everything yesterday only to find both women passed away this morning (non-elders) when I checked the game before leaving for work - which I should be doing now

A woman gains skill in parenting each time she kisses a man. How many times it is before she become a master I've no idea, but it is probably in the thousands. She doesn't have to have any babies to become a master; I've often had master parents who have never had a baby if the population has been at the maximum.

Dropping the woman on a likely-looking man several times in succession probably will work best in increasing parenting skills. Every time they kiss she gains skill. The main problem is when the population is at maximum; you'll get a message that there is not enough housing available pop up each time. That has to be okayed before you can pick her up and drop her on the man again. Telling a story to/teaching the children also increases their skill, but takes much longer.

My village is presently at 48 so I am not running into any population problems. ( I like a smaller village)

I have done the speed kissing a lot, using the adapt parent as the initiator - never seems to work for me.

At this point all I can do is keep trying.

You will get a master parent just keep "speed kissing" and you will eventually get one.

The children live in the arms of their mothers for two years that is why the child is two when it appears on the details chart. You can't see a child until it is two.

My problem came when I bred two villager, the population count went up, but the mother did not have a child in her arms after her trip into the love shack. I bred her again and when she came out of the love shack she had one baby. This happened twice.
I keep track of all my villagers by name and of course count the babies in the mothers arms as part of my population. When this occured I thought maybe I miscounted but after numerous recounts I was still 2 short of the population number.
Then after the other babies turned two and left their mothers arms I ended up with two new children villagers Pita and Amago with no parents listed on their screen. No they did not come in a barrell or by any other thing that occured during the game that I know of. But when counted they are the missing villagers number in my count So they are the mystery children.

Strange!! Anyone know what happened?

They are not twins, by any chance? Look in their details and look at who's next to them in age. It might have been a glitch where the mother had twins but only one baby was shown.

I thought of that too-
I would consider that a strong possiblity for Amago because he looke exactly like another one who was born the same time. Pita looks like no other villager I have.

Probably just a glitch in the system.

HELP I have a question about elders. I have reached my fifty and I know you get no more totems unless you have a special event. I have a villager who is a master in three skills but is not labeled an elder. Will the villagers no longer be named elders after all totems are recieved?

The limit of 50 applies to Esteemed Elders and their totems.

Darn I just had three more villagers master their skills, now they will never be elders. Maybe in the next game after all totems appear the villagers can still become elders and it can be counted on the leader board...just a thought

I have 49 elders and one master, master, adept. I like your idea of calling them (mystery children) like when the gong grants life, once the children turn two, for father, there's a pic of a VV1 guy and he's named "?"

Since they are no longer named elders I still have a special outfit I put the males and females in that I used for the elders-this way I can tell them apart. I also uncheck all bars and let them have the privileges of the previous elders.

I had this event at the 2nd day of playing my new tribe and Mali is a master parent and I must take care of him bcz he everytime want to kiss all the girl of the tribe!!
But, at the beginning of the game, I really don't need of a baby-boom!!
