I believe it's 14 for most things.

I had a six-year-old that was a master scientist! Of course I didn't "train" him --- it was one of the bonus finds. Unfortunately, six year olds seem to be more quickly affected by starvation... so he didn't last long once the berry bush was depleted and I was searching for other sources of food.

Basically, when their picture changes from a child to an adult, they can be trained. This seems to happen at age 14. However, like real teenagers, it's tough to tell them much.

But, they seem to have to wait until they are 18 before they can breed. This is unlike real teenagers.

This child-genius is the result of one of the special "Island events" other than his talent, he is a normal child. He should not be any more vulnerable than usual. Unfortunately, the gifted youngster won't really do any useful work intil he grows up.

I found that you can train the children as early as 2 yrs. old to be healers. Whenever someone in the village gets sick, I choose a kid so that they all get some healing ability and they are able to use it as the village expands in population.

I use all the children as healers, that way my whole village grows up to have healing ability.

I've got a little 2-year-old girl who has laundry in her "likes". I think I'll have trouble with her when she grows up!

Heh, I got two who DISliked laundry... I kept an eye out for it, but I never did catch them once going to do laundry. Guess they found other ways of going walkabout
