I have made stew a few times. Someone said to drag a villager to it but they just start new stew. Help

They won't eat it until you have finished making one. There are several steps. If it says they're making stew, you need to keep going until there is one to eat.

Hm. Did you make the stew and then close the game and reopen? It goes away after that, and also after some minutes if you just leave the game going.

Did you make sure you got everything in the stew to begin with? (3 herbs, water, and food.)

If you've made it correctly it'll show up in a pot below the fire, then you just pick up a normal villager and drag them up till it says 'S/he sees the warm fire' and they'll eat the soup. (Kids and mothers with babies have a smaller drop area.)
