Combine Village Sim with Fish Tycoon to create Sea Monkey Sim. Since the island is magical why wouldn't there be a colony of Sea Monkeys living in one of the island's coves.

Not only could they do some of the tasks found in Village Sim, but you could teach them tricks to entertain you and themselves. You could also be in charge of regulating and balancing the environment as well as keeping them healthy like in Fish Tycoon.

sequels rarely live up to the original. Dont spoil a winner. what u should do is look for the film rghts and go for glory. get a good script writer and turn the village into an epic. good luck. sabana

How about Village Sim where you also control the wildlife (lions, tigers and bears, oh my) and the sea life.

Village Sim is the best of the bunch.

The question I have, why not start a game line rather than have them one-offs? For example, Village Sim suggests a huge potential for expansion ideas. More puzzles, more villagers, more things to do. I don't know your financials but it stands to reason that the risk and capital involed in creating a Sim expansion would be less than developing a whole new game line. Not to say ignore the idea of new games, just that if you have one or two ideas that suggest evolutionary continuations then you could mantain those lines while developing entirely new games. I'm not thinking of sellout overkill, just a nice progression.

Another possible idea, integrate fan-based mods into official expansions. Release the dev tools so they can create new villager graphics, new scripted events, etc. Users can submit mods to LDW and the winners are included in official updates to the game. New content is created and interest in the game is sustained with a minimum of additional investment by LDW. Most of the playtesting would probably be accomplished by the fan community.

I am also not keen on the idea of “puppies in battle” but for an additional reason. In addition to the down side in terms of game strategy. I just don’t want to see these cute little guys fighting. But I realize I may not be speaking for the majority.
I love all the LDW games but I think I would like see virtual pets for Windows, - and I too would like to see a few more expressions, emotions, & behaviors. Also, if it is not asking for too much, I would like to be able to influence behavior more. So, for example, if I don’t reward the pet for shaking his foot, I could "train" him to stop doing it.

I don't think the game lends itself to out and out battles like Monster Rancher but there are plenty of other forms of non-violent competition. Just imagine the possibilities of the wireless handhelds, being able to compete across the globe with your friends.

For pets, the competition could be races, obstacle courses, or other sorts of events that could be animated on the screen. Your pet's performance is based on how well you raised it. You can root for it to win but there's nothing you can really do but watch and see. If it wins, it gets points. If it loses, you have morale to improve later.

I think it's important to preserve the spirit of the game from start to finish. Monster Rancher was cutsey battling japanese monster animals. The pet games aren't violent in nature so the conflicts should be friendly. Same with Village Sim. I think it would be interesting to pit one village against another but it would have to be in a friendly competition sort of way, more Olympics than tribal warfare. That sort of competition would be above and beyond simply comparing stats, i.e. health/happiness/productivity of your village vs. your friend's.

just think for a moment... emagine village sim on computer then think of sort of combining plant tycoon and maybe fish tycoon togeather. There would still be picking berries and thing but now with the plant tycoon you can take care of plants to make the place look nice or get them for food or sell them for money to feed and house your villagers and with fish tycoon same thing food money fun for the villagers things like that and in a long run you can put it online where you can sell it to other people think about it

Too complicated. The tricky balance struck by Village Sim is creating the illusion of complexity with simple, intuitive controls. The more you add on layers of complication, the less fun the game gets.

Palm gaming is a huge change from current PC gaming. While the Palms are using hardware in some ways similar to the older consoles, the displays are still more advanced and the game concepts are often quite different. What I think is a very interesting comparison is looking at space exploration expansion games like Master of Orion vs. a Palm game like Strategic Commander. They both share exactly the same elements -- conquer planets, build infrastructure, build fleets, defeat your enemy. The computer versions have tons and tons more detail but it eventually just bogs things down. There's an important line between complexity that makes a game more fun and complexity that makes it a bore. Master of Orion 1 was excellent but the sequel upped the complexity. It took twice as long to do the same thing. It slowed the pace of the game down. Games are about seeing things and doing things, not micromanaging.
