Wow! We have upgraded our forums (finally?)!

You will see a little chaos as we dial in the new forum software. Please post your comments and suggestions here! It is all highly customizable and we will get it just how everyone wants it, to the best of our ability.

The first thing we are trying out is this 'welcome' page with news, etc. To get to your usual forums and threads, just click "Forum List" on the above nav bar.

Have fun!!

I am trying to set all the colors to what they were on the old forums and I will of course change the image on the header so that it's wider.

Is there way to put in an automatic refresh option? I would want to be able to have the option of turning it on and off, but that would be very helpful.

I have just learned (directly from the forums of the makers of these forums) that there is not the highlight feature of new posts and new threads that there used to be in the old forums. \:\( \:\(

That stinks, but we can live with it. We do get a small yellow paper pic of new posts, so we will just have to learn to look for them. It does not stand out as much as before, but we'll get trained to look for them.

The highlighting only seemed to work fitfully for me, anyway. If the browser was left open at the site, when I refreshed the page it would work (mostly), but if I closed the browser or navigated to another site it wouldn't.

That was the same for me Arnie. I always went and marked all threads as read and then it worked fine until I closed out again.

That is true, it was buggy. I am trying to ask if it's possible to change color of the left side icons (the paper thing and the folder). Now when something is new it turns yellow, but here we can hardly see this yellow.

the folder is just a gif. Simply find a folder of a color you like and rename it to http://www.ldwforums.com/ubbthreads/images/general/default/newfolder.gif

newfolder.gif and drop it in the default directory 8\)

Hey, no Polls on this board? Or only adm's can do polls? Should we have a poll for color choice?

I could live with orange.

Should users be able to create polls.

Press 1 for yes.
Press Alt+F4 for no.

\:8

EDIT: For less advanced users this is just a joke. Alt+F4 will close IE down so don't actually push it \:\)

Looking around "dazed and confused"....doesn't seem that long since washed up on these shores of Isola from the RA and being "confused" back then as well, haha!!

A lot of "boxes" around to get used to....no problem ....seems a little slow when images are involved, or is it my imagination??

There's an expression here in Ireland (maybe you've heard it over there) that "a change is as good as a rest", haha!! Yes, like the new forum.....

Oh, and, you guessed it....I vote for purple, haha!!

Best of Irish,
Maura

Carla,

One thing that confuses is the number of 'sticky' threads in the forums, especially in the VV forum, where they take up three-quarters of the first page. While you're doing your housekeeping you might consider removing the marker on several of the older threads.

The last forum had the LDW lightbulb as the icon. No it is some sort of star/gear or something. Maybe we can get just the LDW box icon up there?

Site looks great. The highlight was convenient, but now there's a button to view 24 or 48 hours or 7 days, so that helps.

I am testing new icon colors. This is what I have changed so far:

The icons of the newthreads, newposts and newfolders, moved arrow, jump to arrow: blue
The sticky icon and announcement: red
The poll icon: green

What do you guys think?

Blue is much better for the new threads, posts and folders! The yellow/gold was just two hard to see. As well as the red, although that was not a big problem for me.

Thanks!

I made the blue a bit more blue ( i think it was more towards lila-blue first). Now what is bothering me is that the new posts (in the first page) are the same color as the game guides books.

Could always try the game guide books as a forest green color like your link color. Green seems to mesh well in small doses on this site. Thats what id try.

tried green. In general i don't like to use all the colors of the rainbow, but I like to stick to a few colors.
My general feeling was -though- that using blue for the newposts and blue for the guides, could have been misread or even gone unnoticed, like if it's part of the design, but I could be wrong.

i know what you mean from a web developers standpoints. A website in general should have no more than 3 main colors at most and most other colors should be close shades of the original 3. I like the tropical color scheme of this website.

These are the colors of our logo (yellow/orange). Customers should identify immediately the official websites of a company from the looks and colors. \:\)

wow! that blue really made it easy for me!

as much as i love the forum, all this yellow kills me. having to hunt for tiny yellow folders on a yellowish background was hard! especially since i am overly sensitive to yellow and tend to get headaches when i try to read on it, not to mention the fact that it makes my dyslexia kinda spin out of control...or maybe that is why i got the headaches in the first place.

anyhow....the blue icons made it so much easier on my eyes and on my poor cabeza. \:\)

I must say I cheat. The orange/yellow colour scheme is too bright for my liking. I switched to the ubbthreads scheme instead. Much more restful on the eyes. 8\)

To change go to My Stuff > My Preferences and change 'Your preferred stylesheet' to 'ubbthreads'.

As many of you are noticing, we have added a couple new forums in the general category: News and Announcements, Contests, Polls, ReviewsAwards.

This will help our forums in a couple of ways: to be more neat by grouping together the same topics, to find things more easily and to have less sticky posts on the big game forums.

These new forums like News & Announcements will not allow users to start a new topic, but only to reply to the current ones. \:\)

I like the changes, the yellow on yellow is a bit hard on the eyes. I wait & see how i feel after a hour or so looking. I may do as Arnie said & switch to ubbthreads & see how it goes.
I tried the ubbthreads & it looked to boring & bland, but was easier on the eyes.
