Does something special have to appear to finish the water wheel?

Hi Sweets. No, nothing special has to appear to finish that puzzle. If you're ever stuck on a puzzle, here are 2 great suggestions from 2 other LDW fans:

They'll usually at least give a hint.

The original posts are in this thread.

It's also a good idea to try different villagers who are a master in at least one skill, although masters are not required for many things, they may be for some things. I hope this helps. smile

Thank you but I have tried all that. Everything in the crafting hut didn't help. Not sure what I'm missing. Guess I will figure it out eventually.

I'm sure you'll figure it out. smile

If you do not have at least 1 of everything in the crafting hut, you may want to fill in the empty spots while you're figuring things out. smile Also, just like in previous Virtual Villagers games, some puzzles require higher levels of technology. Perhaps this one does too?

My crafting hut is bulging with supplies and all my skills are maxed. I crafted a forge bucket and took it to the anvil, and I also took metal there. Now it says I need another item in order to create the water wheel pin...but what? Every guide I've read says I just need to create a forge bucket and metal.

Side note: When I played this a few years ago, I was able to get extra lavastones by watching ads. I don't know why you disabled that, but please reenable it. That was the most useful feature of the entire game. Thank you.

Hi Scully! Are you on Chapter 1 or Chapter 2?
Click to reveal..
Assuming you are on Chapter 2, metal and a forge bucket should indeed create a pin for the water wheel. You'll need more than 1 pin.
Have you tried dropping a perfect villager or chief on the crafting hut to see what else is available for them to use? When you dropped your villager on the anvil, was there any mention of needing a higher level Construction Technology?

If you continue to have issues and would like us to review your game, we'd be more than happy to do so. In your game, please tap/click on the 'gear' icon and then the 'Help' button to send a message to Customer Support, or email support@ldw.zendesk.com, along with your User ID (which you'll find in the Options menu under the same 'gear' icon). Good luck! smile

I'm still on Chapter 1. All the guides I've been studying say the Water Wheel is a chapter 1 puzzle.

Yes, I have dropped my chief on the crafting hut. Nothing is available for her to use. And no, I don't need higher level Construction. I'm maxed out on everything.

Hi Scully. In VVO2 Chapter 1,
Click to reveal..
the metal and forge bucket that your villagers placed at the anvil should be used to create a center piece for the water wheel. You’ll need to create 2 center pieces. If you’ve already done that, then your villagers need to attach them to the water wheel.
That being said, there could be a few reasons why you’re getting a message at the anvil that says that something else is needed. Are you able to send a message to Customer Support through the 'Help' button within your game and explain your situation?

Kathy, there is no Help button within my game's Options screen. And there's no ID, either. It says Version: 2.3.27 ID: and then there's nothing after the ID.

Hi Scully. The lack of a ‘Help’ button and UserID sounds like you may be playing a version other than a free-to-play version, which could also explain why you’re not seeing an option to watch videos for tech points/lavastones/food. Unfortunately, without a UserID we are unable to take a look at your game. frown

Do you recall where you downloaded (or purchased) your current version? If so, perhaps there’s an update. I ask because these are the current versions in several places that I checked:
  • Google Play: Version 2.5.22
  • Amazon: Version 2.4.13
  • Steam: Version 2.4.13
  • App Store (iOS): Version 2.5.19
Of course there are many third party sites that also offer the game. You can see more about that in Keegan’s post here.

The water wheel you're working on is across from the mausoleum, correct?

Since we’re unable to check your game for you, these are my thoughts:
  • See if there’s an update available for the version you’re playing. If so, installing it may resolve the issue you’re experiencing.
  • If the issue persists (or there's no update available), you can try solving a few of the other puzzles, in case one of them could be ‘standing in your way.’ Based on what you’ve told me so far, I don’t think that’s the issue, although I’d rather not speculate.
I'm sorry I couldn't be more helpful. Good luck! smile

Now I created the blue butterfly and put my chief on the crafting hut...but it's saying there's nothing inside she can use except rhubarb. What is wrong with this game??

I bought the game through iWin, and there are no updates available. And yes, that's where the water wheel is.

Hi MissKathy,
GBU2.
I'm "back." Can't "understand what the difference" in "buying" this game from "another site, IWIN, yours, or FB, which I don't do". I only "bought it thru IWIN, because they "offer" a disc as a "backup".
IWIN "does not" have the "help with tips" for this game as you all do. I found another site that does, but they don't "answer" our questions, as fast as you all do.
I have had to "restart" my game 3 times, since I posted last week, I "lacked but 3 puzzles to finish for Chapter 1, because of my "peeps aging" too fast. I "pause" the game for "overnight", and I come back and they have "aged 2-3 yrs."
Also, when I come back, my Lemur and "pink claw crab", keep "leaving" and never shows back up.
IMO, this game is "harder" to play "w/o" Lemur. He gives you the "time" to do what is "needed" to do in the game, building, farming, etc. He's like a "mother's helper", as I always told my 3 children as they were growing up, that does all the "hunting and digging.
I was under the "assumption", that he was/would be there every time, even "if" we restarted a "new game", just like we did in the originals.
GBU and yours.
