My favorite actions from a CHILD are probably:
Click to reveal..
•Jumping down the stairs- they actually jump!
•Playing train- it's so cute when they follow each other!

The adults don't really have many funny actions...
What are your favorite actions?

I love to see them
Click to reveal..
jumping down the stairs
as well. In fact, I'll usually try to give them the green glove once or more times so they'll do it over and over!
Click to reveal..
Giggle party is fun also.

I like the few actions that don't come up often. Such as 'Having Breakfast' and 'Getting fresh air'. They're not entertaining like the actions the kids have but it's nice to have something stray from the norm.

Well, some action may seem to not come up very often because they will show up only at a certain time of day like 'Having Breakfast' - they do it only in the morning wink I have seen my peeps doing it many times probably because I often play the game when it's morning for them

One of my little ones was just running around and I clicked on them and it said... 'running like a lunatic' LOL! I thought it was the cutest thing ever. Reminds me of my own little ones that frequently run around like lunatics. Haha!!!

Ajuma, my kids started doing that as soon as I bought them a dresser for the bedroom. Did you just buy the dresser recently? If so, that might be why they just started doing it...

I've seen my kids hide under beds and behind the upright bookcase. I followed one of them running towards the bookcase, next thing, she was gone. shocked Thought, for sure, something was wrong with the game, until she suddenly popped out from behind the bookcase. laugh

Swedane, I've never seen that before! I've seen the action 'hiding', is that it? Mine usually go outside for that though smile

I just saw my little guy 'playing daddy'. I remember that from the first Virtual Families, but I wasn't sure if it was going to be in this one or not! It's so cute! smile

Corylea, I've had the dresser for some time, but I think I bought it when the previous generation's kids were older. When it happened, I had 5 kids who were 8 years old or younger (triplet boys and 2 girls). Maybe it's because there are so many of them! laugh

Nora, I just got that one too...and if you listen, you can hear "daddy" saying "No. No." laugh

Ask any little kid, and they'll tell you that "No" is what grown-ups say. wink Also it's the power word, and playing a parent in make-believe is partly about pretending to have that power for awhile.

Haha! That is very true Corylea! I didn't think about that! A few minutes ago I was playing and I selected one of my children (I have two, a boy and a girl) and her action was 'Watching Tv' but she was laying on the floor! laugh How cute is that?

I doubt it, but we're in the Windows/Mac section, and those platforms do screenshots. wink

Yes, we're in the Windows/Mac section, but some people here may not know how to post screen shots from any source. The instructions for posting screen shots can be found here. laugh

Also, just to be complete, you can make screen shots from all iOS devices (iPad, iPhone, and iPod touch), as well as newer Android devices.

In my newest game, before I had put the couch down, my little lady decided she wanted to read a book, so she got a book and went and sat down outside to read. smile

One of my little people's actions was 'Filling in a gopher hole'. I could just hear him saying "Oh, great. Now I have to go out in the yard to fill in this hole. I wish the kids would stop playing with the gophers" laugh

No, Nora, this one is a specific action. I believe it said; "hiding under the bed."

I like that one too! There's a new one where the kids and teens will go and hug the HUGE teddy bear. I just love that! smile

Ok, so two of my kids (ages 15 and 17) were doing things that were out of the norm for older ones.. The 17 year old was 'Scared of the Lightening'. Not that you really outgrow that. Now the 15 year old was having a "Giggle Party"... What's wrong with this guy? laugh

My 14-year-old was having a giggle party all by herself - not that she had any siblings to join in, sadly. She also tried to play in the rain. laugh I like the more childish actions for the teens. (She'll jump on the bed still, too.)

Yep, I've seen it, too. There really is a "hiding under the bed."

Today, my family congregated in the kitchen, the parents to put away the groceries and the children to peek at them, then one of the kids got the activity "Looking for Daddy," and he left the kitchen -- where his daddy was still putting away the groceries -- and scoured the house looking for the father he'd been standing right next to in the kitchen. laugh

I couldn't believe it when I saw this action! One of my "kids" was heading towards the bathroom because "Nature was calling". Then a second kid went to the bathroom and when I clicked on him it said he was "playing in the toilet" and the first kid was still in the bathroom!! All I could think of was "eeewww!" Needless to say my scolding glove was in use pretty quickly!

The scolding glove doesn't seem to make much impression on my kids; I have much better luck praising them for doing things I want them to do. Of course, it works that way in real life, too. wink

I've seen a bit of a difference with scolding. It takes from when they're two to about their teenage years, but I eventually get through to them and it seems they have a small affect.

I've had the similar experience with the scolding. I could scold them and they'd go right back to doing the scolded behavior as soon as they stopped running away. I've found that they don't chill out until you get them some toys and a television lol. From my experience, the group of toys, the drum and the balloons have been the best (could be a situation by situation thing though). Mine don't seem to really care for the bubble maker, the toy ship, the art easel or stuff animals smirk

I've just got the trampoline for the kids. I love the way they bounce, then land on their bottom on the ground at the end, with a "ahh!" sound. smile

Not really a "favorite" action, but my peeps keep going to the bathroom at the same time, one goes into the room and closes the door followed by the other. So I'm just going to pretend like they have multiple stalls in there because otherwise, that's really gross haha.

I did see an action that I do love though. And that's "excited for the new baby" because it's adorable. I've only gotten it a few times. In the first VF I got "jealous of new baby" a lot. But in one of my games, the oldest son of three kids at the time, kept running around excited for the baby. He did this a few different times so he must have been very excited smile

My people were jealous of the new baby on my iOS game! I took a picture. Then the same kid was excited about the baby right after that!

My 9-year-old girl Fabesse's action once was "Bored". (again iOS game) I took a picture of it. I've never seen it before...

I have not yet renovated the Large Room. But, twice now my peeps say they're vacuuming the living room. They go to the top of the stairs, pickup a hand vacuum, walk thru the "living room", walk around the house and stop at the hose outside the Blue Bedroom (not yet built) and start to hoover the grass. hehe.

I just happened to click where the shower was going to be built and it started working even before the guys were finished building the room! I should have tried putting someone in there to see what happened! (BTW, isn't it just a bit sexist to have only MEN in the construction crew? wink )

I get a bit confused when I see a kid at the trash can and it says "looking for snacks". I HOPE that they've already looked and are throwing away a wrapper or napkin but.....????

I just had a similar experience as flutterbys. The dad in one of my games was going to send me an email, sat down at the computer and suddenly started taking a nap. I guess emailing me bored him!!

I also just had a cute action in another game. My family's 16 year old son decided he wanted to cook like mommy smile

EDIT:

I came back a little later and found the same son, now 17 "driving like daddy" so I really don't know what to think of the boy at this point.

Lol you guys have me curious to see if he ends up with a suitable career! I will let you all know what career he ends up with. It'll probably be some time tomorrow that I'll have to start a new generation in the game he's in.

I had the random thought that maybe because he's 17, he's mad that his parents won't buy him a car :P

My favorite thing is when the teenagers go play the drum. That drum must be the best toy ever! One minute they'll be doing homework or dusting, and the next thing I know they're heading to bang on the drum and giggle. Love that drum! Great investment.

Yes, all the rooms are now repaired. I've been lucky in that I've had two or three "You overpaid your taxes" messages, and each time got an extra 10%. So far, I haven't had the "underpaid" version. The interest rate of 10% a day means that it is quite easy to accumulate cash. The more you have, the more you get ...

My favourite action is seeing the children cooking in their little toy kitchen, and then feeding their creations to the big teddy bear!

I couldn't believe it the first time I saw a child feeding the bear, but they do it all the time. If you have the toy kitchen, you have to get the bear, because it's so amusing.

I'll have to look out for that! I've only had the bear and the toy kitchen a short while. I've seen kids hugging the bear and also 'cooking like mommy', but have never noticed any connection in their interactions.

With a family of six young kids it's been difficult to watch them all carefully; I have to look out for 'red-hand' actions such as rattling the dishes and turning lights on and off.

They are growing up now, though, and a couple have gone off to college. With luck I won't need to look out for mischief so much and will be able to see this.

When they're playing with the toy-kitchen they do make a bit of a racket. It doesn't seam to distract the parents; thank goodness for that! smile

I don't how you master getting six kids in your various families? I've only had that happen twice and that was due to multiple births. I've tried umpteen times, but the females keeps refusing.

Just don't stop bringing them together. Although they will argue the first few times, or sometimes the first lot of times, eventually they'll kiss and go off to try for a baby. If that attempt is unsuccessful wait about fifteen minutes then try again. Then again if necessary ... I've used Baby Boost a couple of times only, but in general they've not needed it.

Out of my seven generations so far only one produced five kids; the others have all had six. I've had one set of twins in that lot.

I went back to one of my four reluctant females to try it your way. The first thing that greeted me was a response letter addressed to "Margaret" from the adoption agency. I smiled and thought, fate or coincident? (See letter below)
I'm sure my female "Happi" didn't wish for a similar letter. After arguing a couple of times she produced a set of healthy twin boys. Both hubby and I are very grateful to Bill and Arnie! laugh

Good thing they're all virtual beings. Wondering, how many generations can the game handle? Is there a cutoff number? Seams to me VF had a limit of 30 generations.

Hi swedane. The 30th generation bug you're remembering from the first Virtual Families game was fixed back in 2009. smile To quote Xay from this post

The game should be able to handle as many generations as your little families can produce. smile The "Family Tree" will be "pruned" around the 30th generation just like it was in the original game. smile

One thing, though ... You say that it is the females who are reluctant. How do you know? Maybe the men are the reluctant ones. grin After all, it does take the two of them to have a baby. ...

WHAT? It will? OH NO!That means I need to take a picture of the 1st gen. on my iOS game! My family in the 1st gen. had 6 kids; 5 boys and 1 girl! I was so excited when the girl (named Trishella) came along! She took on the house, married Gregico, and had 3 girls.

You just have to make sure they keep working. When I start a new generation I always make sure to put my peeps through 2 or 3 work cycles and also praise them while they work. You want them to know that working is an action you want them to do. Then hopefully you can let them be and they will work on their own. If after some time has gone by and they don't seem to make any progress I will watch them for awhile and make sure to pick them up and put them by their work area. I don't let them leave the area until they have completed at least one work cycle. That's what works for me. There maybe others out there that have different ideas as to what you can do. I do have to say that you may not always get every peep to master their profession but you should be able to get at least some of them to master it.

Some tips...

If your peep is a Lvl 1 (since occasionally you can get a Lvl 2 generated) and if you have the money for it do the following:

As soon as you adopt your peep, first check the thrift store to see if there's a career manual for the room that your peep's job is in. If there is, buy it and drop it on your peep and it should be enough to trigger an automatic promotion. 300 coins really is worth it for the head start in my opinion, but the choice is yours of course.

If there is no book in the thrift shop and you have the money for it, you can buy the first promotion at 1100 coins. It gets progressively more expensive so might be unreasonable as you go along, but if you can spare the 1100 coins, you will be giving your peep a head start.

Whether or not you do the above, you should try doing the following:

1. Drop your peep in their career room and as soon as it says "working on career" praise them twice with the green glove. Now wait for them to finish a work cycle (if they don't finish, drop them back on to try again, but don't praise them).

2. Once they finish, you can either let them do a few things around the house, buy them some groceries or whatever you would normally do. But take this time to check for some candy in the thrift shop.

3. Once you're ready for them to go back to work or once you've noticed them going back to work on their own, use the candy to praise them! You'll find that if you use the green glove again they will get angry and run away. From here on out, you should use candy. It takes several "years" before they will accept the green glove for praise when working again so it's easiest to just go with the candy.

4. Be a taskmaster until they are at least level 3 (or, unfortunately, if they happen to be a woman and you don't want them slacking off between babies). This means, you'll probably need to drop them into their career room and praise them with candy every time you open the game to check on them.

Optional: If you can afford it, buy the first 2 career room upgrades at least. I've managed to get Masters with only 2-4 career upgrades depending on the room/peep in question.

Hopefully these tips help. Being a task master and/or purchasing the first promotion via the book or upgrade me menu should do the trick smile Good luck!

If they "win" the game they jump (like when you praise them) and when they lose they do the same thing as Mourning the Dead!

Okay, so this guys action box just popped up and said "Doing the crossword" so I praised him, since this was an uncommon action that I had never seen before. Then, after I praised him, it said "Doing sudoku" . And after he sat down with the book, he fell asleep and it still said "Doing sudoku" ... And a lady also just said "Resting tired feet" haha.

I am only guessing but I think "Fakebook" is the Virtual Family's version of social media. You know, in the real world we have Facebook, they have Fakebook.

Fakebook drives me crazy too! Especially the one with the guy on the boat and the one where the guy falls down the stairs and catches on fire. The ONE that I DO like is the weird one about the boxes.

Another action I like is 'Feeding the fish'. The peep goes to the fridge and gets a whole loaf of bread and feeds it to the fishes! What fish have they got in there, piranhas? smile

My peep was "Looking at old pictures". After a few moments, she put her head back, closed her eyes, and snored!

I love it when the kids hug the bear too... just the little ones though. When the kids get to be teens I try to encourage them to do more teen related stuff such as browse the web.

One time I had a 16 year old.... I did a little test, and I picked her up then put her down 10 times to see the actions. She was "driving like daddy" twice, "making sandcastles 3 times, "cooking like mommy" once, and "hugging the bear" three times! The last one was "browsing web", which any age can do. laugh And she didn't walk like an adult/teenager, she ran like a kid!

That's neat!! I lose my family members all the time, I have to search around for them!! I will try that next time. I had twins in my previous generation & they were ornery little buggers!!! I was forever chasing them to discipline them! They run really fast!!

Very rarely do any new mothers "cuddle" with their babies, yet a few do. Does this mean they're more nurturing and the children will be better loved/behaved? I noticed that no one mother has done all motherly events with their new child - (showing baby the garden, playing with toys, cuddling, changing diapers, etc)in one infancy cycle - wonder if the child's behavior reflects the mothering they receive as an infant.

My most favorite action is when the kids are, "cooking like mommy," with the kitchen and they feed their cooking to the giant plush bears. You have to have the play kitchen and a giant plush bear.

The little three year old boy was "playing daddy". He went to the dresser/chest and played there. I am guessing he was supposed to be dressing up in daddy's clothes, but it was cute. I love the playing train one too. Another one that I like is when the kids measure their height.

They just had another baby boy after the twins grew to two. They baby's name is Kudos. Funny thing is, one of the twin boys is also named Kudos lol. Two Kudos in a row lol. Four boys and one girl in this family now. I was hoping for more girls lol. Maybe next time. I wonder if the oldest boy will want kids when older and have an office career because he likes to play daddy and office lol.

I just saw a new one for me anyway. One of the 14 year old twins was doing aerobics. The youngest daughter was admiring the stars while lying on the steps by the front deck. I have had some of the kids get a drink of water from the bathroom sink and some of the kids washing their feet, not just the adults. If you put a kid on the bubble machine, they dance in the bubbles. I have seen some of the kids taking an online test too. I guess they are home-schooled.

The youngest girl who is 14/15 was just playing in the rain. I haven't seen that one before. It would be cute if they played in the snow or were building a snowman... Or dancing in the rain would be cute too.

The parents will dance in the bubbles from the bubble machine too. I just noticed they dance differently too. The father spun around in it and the mother moved her arms up and down lol. Oh and has anyone else gotten the squeezing a pimple action? I thought it was funny the first time I saw that a character was doing that.

Lol, the mother does it all the time, squeezing a pimple, but I recently found that the 12 year old does it too.
I loved how the first night, they still didn't have a bed and all three of them, they just have one daughter, slept together on the couch.

This is the first time I see the daughter, Tiny, doing something other than playing or being naughty. She's writing a paper for school

**Edit - now, a couple of minutes later, she's studying. I guess she's at an age where she's a bit more responsible, besides, she's an only child. She needs to be smart and have a successful career to inherit the house

I just saw one of the little girls putting in eye drops. That is different. And of course they go swimming in the kiddie pool, but they also go "splashing in the pool". I saw one of the boys doing a backstroke lol. One funny thing that happened a couple of gens ago (I am on gen four now) was that the mom was in the bathroom stall and the dog was sitting right outside the stall waiting for her. I finally got the rainbow haired girl. Her name is Evita. I am trying not to let the coins get below a thousand, but this generation gets sick too often and I am always having to buy meds and doctor consultations so now only have four hundred something coins.

Never seen the 'putting in eye drops'.

Though 'hiding under the bed' is absolutely adorable, as well as 'drawing on the wall'- little Rupee does it whenever she can!

My favorite action is "Playing Train". I also like the uncommon ones a lot.

One time one of the teenagers had a action called "jumpy" or something similar. I had been trying to get him to just do one or two things constantly by using the hands and then it said jumpy. It was kind of interesting. I wish it would happen again. He was kind of wiggly and, jumpy.

I've had that happen to me too, Mrs.Robinson! My people rarely do it, though. I have had some teens do child actions though, like 'cooking like mommy' and 'driving like daddy', etc.

I just saw 2 of my little people do something that is uncommon! Marcolo was 'running like a lunatic' and Jessesse was 'excersicing outdoors'! I praised both of them once for the action that they were doing. I hope somebody excersices outdoors without me having to give them an energy drink soon.
I just saw Jessesse do an action I've never seen before, and that is 'checking for stocking stuffers'. I praised her for doing it, and she'll probably do it again because around the same time, Marcolo was running like a lunatic!
