I do not seem to be able to increase the population in my village over 10. As I recall in VV1, at this point (with level 2 of construction and one hut built), I should be able to go up to about 13. At about that number in VV1, I could start on another hut to allow even more villagers.

Is this one different in that respect? What do I need to increase my population?

In case it matters I have level 2 in Farming, Construction and Science. Still at level 1 in other areas.

I too am curious about max population as I cannot get my villagers to breed now that I hit 40 villagers. They will try but no babies happen. I have all 3 huts and level 3 in all except Science and Fertility which are still at level 2. I thought with level 3 construction and all huts built you could go up to 95...

Another strange thing, When a couple of the villagers turned 14 with a beginning of talent in building they both were "worried about housing" Why? I have all 3 huts!

Jer, I was able to get up to 13 for sure at your level and maybe 15, I cannot remember. Maybe this is a bug happening in the game?

40 villagers is the maximum basic population on iOS devices, which is lower than the Windows and Mac version limit of 90 for VV1. As it states in this thread, you can use tech points to purchase population increases (up to a maximum of 70 villagers). Each time you purchase a population increase, the maximum population is increased by 10, and it can be purchased 3 times for a total of 30 additional villagers.

Thank you for the info on Max. Another question, I just side stepped the max by purchasing a barrel of babies but if I had purchased the Max Population instead (not enough tech points yet and don't want to buy) it says I would need to increase shelter. Would a 4th hut to build appear?

Yay, only need to get Fertility 3rd level. Had enough this morning to finish Science

OK. I got a Scientist "worried about housing" since getting the barrel of babies giving me 43 villagers. Anything I can do about that in this IOS version?

There will be no 4th hut. You can continue to increase your population using the methods Heather explained.
