I am on my second generation in the lite version. If I buy the full version will I have to start over? Or will my current family be incorporated into the full version? THANKS!

No. We would love to have been able to make the saved game data from the lite version available to the full version for people who started with the lite version.

Unfortunately, for security reasons, Apple restricts iPhone/iPod applications to storing data only in their own directory, making sharing/transferring of data impossible between the lite and full versions of the game. When you upgrade to the full version, you will need to start a new game.
