It took my poor Maria 24 years (12 children!!) to finally be a Master Parent. eek My poor Rafael has fathered 19 children and is STILL not a Master Parent. shocked

I guess the women will have more of a chance to be Scholars than the guys! cool

Sure seems a little unfair that it takes so long to master this one "skill" though.

There is another way to gain parenting skill;
Click to reveal..
have them tell a story.

Oh, and what I do is find an older female who does not have parenting checked and use the speed kissing technique. Works for me.

Just be aware that using that technique can result in babies.

If you don't have the parenting skill checked; the possibility of a baby becomes extremely low.
Click to reveal..

If you haven't noticed, a villager who is a master parent and does not have parenting as the profession of choice will not initiate kissing.

QuickStorm, thanks for the first hint. I'll try that. I don't have enough non-pregnant women to try the second! I have a total of 7 women out of 26!! Never gonna get that trophy!!

Ajuma,

Remember that all the LDW games are intended to be played over a period of weeks, if not months. To say you're never going to get a particular trophy is premature after less than a week, to say the least.

Question, does teaching school increase parenting like telling a story does?

Like Sunsinger I would like to know if the nursing school increases parenting skills, I have not seen it, so i don't think so, but I just like to know for sure..

I don't think so, Ellen, but when a villager is "telling a story" to kids, it increases the parenting skills! grin

too bad.
So the nursing school is good for the children, but not for the adults. Again, too bad.

Ok, now I have a question.

I just joined the forum, just started playing the game..but this is frustrating for me.

I have a villager who is 59 years old and nursing a baby (have the parenting box checked - they can have babie past 50 obviously)...she has been a parent since the age of 18....

This is the problem:

She is still only an adept parent. 41 years or parenting...who knows how many kids..and STILL not a master parent...Do I have a bad copy of the game or something?

No, you don't have a bad copy. If you want her to master the skill, once she stops nursing uncheck the parenting box and do some speed kissing.

Yea...I kept it checked and had her do some speed kissing with my adept male parent...I was waiting for him to become a master for him to be a scholar.

Well, I got my wish. After some serious speed kissing between the two of them...They BOTH became master parents and I got my first Scholar.

On a side note:

What is up with these names of the characters? Puanni? Roo? Akuna? I am having a hard time coming up with real names for them...

It DOES take a lot of speed-kissing to get someone up to Master. I've found that if I use a different guy each time, it raises both of the levels, as the guy has no experience and will take more kisses before producing a baby.

The names come from a "name generator" and I admit some of them are pretty strange. Depending on the generation, I take the first 2 letters and make a name from then. If I had "Roo", I'd name her ROse or something like that. You can always look up "baby names" to find some new names.

Getting a female Master Parent is really difficult by "natural" means. I found that it helps to use a different male, preferably one with no parenting experience, each time. Getting that woman to be a scholar is also a challenge!

Let's hear it for speed kissing! smile

I try speed-kissing for my villagers, but their skill doesn't get higher than adept parent. frown It has worked before.

Oh well!

speed kissing works! - you don't have to set the skill on parenting so every woman about 50 can be a master parent by speed kissing and every man who's kissing a woman about 50 as well.

Keep trying! It can take a L-O-N-G while for a villager to move from Adept to Master!

I didn't prove this but it seemed to go faster when using a male under 50 and a female over 50 with unchecked parenting skills.

The male seemed to gain skill much faster than when he is over 50.

Your population can even get bigger than 90 when you:
Click to reveal..
finish the collections, for every finished collection 5 extra villagers are alowed to be born on the Island

Click to reveal..
You also are allowed another 5 once you finish all the collections, for a total of 115. Furthermore, if you are lucky enough to get twins or triplets when your population is 114 you can end up with an ultimate total of 117.
