I've seriously tried at least a dozen times with 2 different women and 2 different men and they just WON'T have babies...is it a glitch or is it just harder in vv4 than it was in the other ones??

If the villager is not a adept/master at parenting, this will take several attemts to have a baby. Just spam-drop villager, until the baby will be appear in female's hands or you will see counter of villagers increased.

Also, I am not sure about this, but I think you should have a "private" hut(with flowerers and stuff) already built. This one builds very quickly, so you shouldn't have any problems with that.

Well, think about the good that came out of this; your villagers now have gained lots of experience in parenting.

Come to my village Amber. I have a 67 year with a baby!
(No event by the way, just in case there are events where this could happen.)

There are events that could cause that, but they aren't necessarily the reason an older female villager is nursing a baby. VV4 is different from VV2 and VV3, and there is no longer an arbitrary age limit for producing children. It is less likely, but still possible, for older villagers to add to the tribe. smile

Once my female scholars hit 50+, I put them on Parenting in the hope they can teach some of the younger men how to parent.

In this case, my female was 60+, I put her on Parenting and exited the game only to come back and see her carrying a baby...

There was no event or time travel involved...

It doesn't really worry me, I just thought you might need to know .

Sorry if I posted this in the wrong place, feel free to delete it.

When you say its less likely, do you mean that some older women can have children while most cant? Or do you mean that it would probably just take many more attempts ?

I've seen it take many attempts when they are older - but also when they are younger so not sure. There is a suggestion that it is more likely if they do it on their own, rather than being dropped on a mate..

It has never happened to me - yet. From what I've read in the threads discussing this the common factor is that the game is off and the player has opened the game to find an over-50 nursing. Just recently I had a 44-year-old male set to parenting as I was trying to bring him up to Scholar. He was an adept and had happily been running around kissing all the girls he could. Suddenly I noticed he wasn't "performing" as before. he was carrying out any action other than the one I wanted him to do.

I then realised that he'd perhaps been a little too enthusiastic and had impregnated every female between 18 and 50. I decided to use "speed-kissing" and eventually brought him up to a Master Parent and thus a Scholar. The Elderly Scholar who was his partner in the speed-kissing must have been kissed a couple of hundred times but didn't have a baby. If, however, I'd turned the game off for a while, she might well have done...
