Lyssaria, I don't use other's mods, but I am definately using your pool. I've been wondering just what to do with that kiddie looking pool, but you've done such a great job that I'm not even going to mess with it. Thanks and big hugs!!!

Wahaha!! I'm sooo excited! I had just done a tile deck and patio out there but the pool was giving me FITS! You saved me about two days efforts and I think it's going to look great with my new stone tiles (if I can get them merged correctly.) I can't wait to try it! hehe Thanks for posting it!

No problem BB! Best of luck with the tiles smile It sounds wonderful!

On a more embarrassing note, anyone that now has the pool should click here.

You can disregard what I said above with the link, since we can now edit our mod posts for a longer length of time, I updated the original one with the fix.

Major thanks to LadyCFII smile

Well, I couldn't wait to get home and get started on this. hehe It's a work in progress, but here's what I have for now.

I had to change the mosaic to match the edge you had done for the pool, but I think I like this one even more. It's still not lined up exactly, but I'm getting there. Can't thank you enough. smile

Oh my goodness I love it! I tried about 10-20 times to make a tile underneath the pool that stretched out to the patio and couldn't figure out a working shape, so seeing this has just relieved a lot of frustration in the back of my mind grin

I'm glad I could help smile

Thanks you two! laugh

Oh, I'm definitely noob!! I finally figured out how to resize patterns tonight. lol I was so proud. Until then I'd been drawing them in by hand. I have an entire kitchen floor in which each tile is hand drawn and hand laid. *giggles* Now I'm all excited thinking how much faster I can do things - I don't know where to start first. The kitchen is what made me want to mod for myself and I'm dieing to finish it, but I've been working on my "Magic Fish" themed bath and am soooo tempted to try a new floor in there first. I'm really proud of my extended counter in that room. smile

You all would get some major laughs from some of the mistakes I've made. I laugh at myself once I figure things out! I made a complete mess of layers once and almost never got it sorted. I've finally learned to use transparency in a layer to make stuff below it.

I managed to draw a grandfather clock! It's a lil crooked, but I pretend it's perfect.

I'll never be able to do what you all do, but I sure am having a blast!

Unfortunately I'm verrry distracted by a bunch of random ideas popping in my head so I'll probably need to work on these before I can get back into my house decorations. If you looked at the shout box, that's all the evidence you need lol!

Your bath sounds like it'll be wonderful! I'm looking forward to see more updates of your work smile

I have this screenie that I took of my lil food obsessed family when they finally had baby 6 - it shows the bathroom counter and you can almost see my grandfather clock up by the stairs. hehe

I love the new bed!

The problem is, I didn't really know how to use layers when I started and even when I figured it out I didn't separate the rooms. Separating them out to share them will take me some time. Some of the stuff is just my silliness though, and I'm not sure others would want that. Like the shell on the bath counter... I pretend it's a souvenir sent from a family member that has started collecting shells while away from home. There are bits of other LDW games scattered in a few places too. >.>

I'm waiting for Lyssaria's new stuff too. I think it's gonna be sooo funny. laugh

Your house is coming together wonderfully BB ^^

I tried two things since last night's crazy overdrive of ideas..I did finish making a pet rock, but the animation was kind of..shaky to say the least laugh Pets will have to wait, its a lot harder than I thought it would be!

After that I tried adding an additional plate to the kitchen table so if someone sits in that fifth seat that usually has no plate, they'd be served some yummy spaghetti. Unfortunately the way the game was designed, that plate would just get pushed onto seat #4 and the other plates fall off the table.

Back to the drawing board for me!

Thanks! ^^ I just finished up the table and stools, also touched up the floor a bit:

I added the pretty fruit so when meals are prepared, that person sitting in that last seat with no plate will now have some fruits to munch on. smile

I love your fruit bowl too Lyssaria! I know exactly what you mean about not being able to have a 5th plate of food be served in that spot at mealtime. I also was unsuccessful and I'm sure it's because the original image does not cover that area and we can't change the size of the image to accommodate a plate of food there. I wouldn't want to start messing with program codes!

Yeah, I tried to add another place setting also. lol But finally I decided they aren't plates at all. They are serving dishes with salad, veges, main course, starches. They eat on invisible plates that we can't see. hehehe The problem I had with putting something on the table was the studying in the kitchen action. It's dang hard to line it up so those papers cover it. >.<

I was about to pm this to Lewanda, but since we're sharing unfinished stuff, this was my project tonight:

I still need to do a lot of blending and add the baseboards, and can't for the life of me figure out how to do that reflection stuff that makes the floors or counters look shiny, but I DID figure out how to do shadows!

Moonlyght, I'd be happy to share and can't believe you want them! But I really messed up in the beginning when I didn't know how to layer correctly. It would take me a full day to edit them all to take out my other rooms and things. Like, I put all the plants for all the rooms in one layer, not realizing that I would need to separate rooms later. smirk

That living room rug is awful. rofl It was one of the first things I tried to do the first time I used the image editor. I need to beg Lyssaria for a layer of her rug to go in there.....

But if I don't go "prepare a meal" for my RL family, I think they may try to find a red glove somewhere and use it on me....

OH MY GOODNESS BayouBlonde , I MUST have your kitchen! The table looks great, LOVE the floor!!! And I'd love some shiny, reflective countertops using the off-white from the floor blush Are you using Gimp? My brother showed me where to find it online today but I haven't downloaded it yet.

Wow! I am quite shocked and very much flattered. blush
Thank you all so much for the wonderful comments.

That kitchen is the 3rd upgrade and the floor is the one in which I drew each tile by hand and pasted them in individually. So it really is a custom kitchen! lol I just didn't have the heart to change it. As I said above, I still need to finish a few things on it.

Yes, I use GIMP.

Wow. I just don't even know what to say. (Very unusual for me. lol) I will try to work on getting the rooms separated out tomorrow and get something posted soon.

OMG!

I was out for a couple of days and almost died in happiness when I saw all the new mods!!!! *clapping*

I didn't know what to get first!

And now I'm all confused on what to use first! *laughs*

Lyssaria, Lewanda and BB - I LOVED ALL THE MODS!!!!

I'm trying to find the time to do some - got busy here all of a sudden and I just came back now to my experiments. Good thing is that I finnaly got Photoshop, so things are really easier now (I was working with an old version of PhotoImpression at first).

Pleeeease, cross fingers for me! I really hope to get at least closer to those wonderful things you guys do! But still lots to learn here.:) (I still couldn't get how to do the rugs *laughs*)

Thanks again for the great mods!!!!!

Thank you Sweetheart!

The biggest thing to learn about doing mods for VF is to keep the perspective right. Everything needs to look as though you're looking down on it. If it doesn't your mod won't look right.

Thanks Moonlyght! It's good to see you again smile Perspective ends up using most of my time on my mods and if I notice something not lining up 100% it'll bug me for the rest of the time I have the mod installed >_<

I wish it were as easy as just rotating the rugs so they're diagonal, but since we're looking at the rug on an angle, it's not a perfect diagonal and we have to skew it a bit. Best of luck with your mods Moonlyght!

The perspective tool in Gimp is one of my good friends when modding. Sometimes takes a while to look just right, but it sure is easy to use. laugh

Getting the perspective right is what takes the longest with most of my mods. I'm like Lyssaria, if the perspective is off the least bit it bugs me to death.

Same thing here. smile

My problem is joining stuff (like 2 parts of the rugs - each one in one different map).

Photoshop helps a lot with perspective: you can work with a vanishing point that applies the image the way you like it to be. smile

I find humor helps a little when perspective gives you trouble..I pretend the children were banging the furniture as opposed to the dishes and it's up to me to fix it. wink

When I make things that are found in separate files, I open one huge window and put all of the map pieces I need together and make it whole, that way I don't have to guess on separate maps! I actually make my bedroom separate haha

Photoshop's vanishing point is a great tool MoonLyght, though it only works for some things. I use the transform tool to get the perspective right. I also do a lot of painting in my mods. It's easier for me than fighting the transform tool. smile

Mods are game modifications. Basically, some artists redo pieces of the game and post them in the game mod section of this forum for everyone to enjoy! For example, if you don't like the pool that comes with the game, there's more options in that section like my in-ground pool and Lewanda's patio!

To learn how to install them, check here
