LadyCFII's edit: New requests for statue color schemes are no longer being accepted. Please see Lurkily's post for more details. You can download a zip file containing all of the painted statue files that have been completed as of 6/27/08 by clicking here.Well, you've seen bronze statue, pink statue, orange statue, psychadelic statue . . . well, not that one. Well, here's a painted statue. You thought old statues were supposed to be like the sphinx, colorless and lifeless? Lemme tell ya, the sphinx was painted too, at one point, and so is this statue. This is just a preview so far, because I need advice. Particularly, how do you like the color scheme? My girlfriend says the dress has too much yellow, but she just hates yellow. Also, what color should I recolor the necklace? It looks okay as is, but doesn't fit the color scheme - my girl says red, but I'm worried about over-redding it. I also have to adjust the color layers What about the hair; is the icy-eyed blonde okay? I thought the hair should be black, but . . . I wanted more color here. Let me know what you think! If it sucks, slam me for it - I'm a big boy, I can handle it. P.S.: I know that there's a fringe of yellow outside the lines on the left hip.

Even though your girl hates yellow, I think that is the color the necklace should be. I don't particularly like yellow either but it goes nice with the red.

I think it's really great! I know how much work that was, since I did a painted statue myself. I like your color scheme. I'm not too fond of the necklace (I think it clashes), but that could also be because I don't like that color much. I'm not sure what you can do there, since if you make it yellow it will blend with the hair and earring, but if you make it red I think that really might be too much red.
The only thing I can point out is the eye. Laser eye! It looks too bright and glow-y. LOL

Mod complete! I had a little trouble, since the stock image is somewhat misaligned; I had to do some work figuring out how to re-align the placement of the image when it was represented in the game. Click here or on the image to download: My next step is asking for requests. I can adjust the color scheme relatively easily, so give me a color scheme. I have one request for a black paneled dress with a black necklace. These are the elements I can easily recolor: - Skin tone
- Dress panels (I can recolor the red or yellow dress panels, but not individual panels, not without a lot of work)
- Shirt/Cape/Armband-sleeve-thingy
- Hair
- Eyes
- Headband
- Flower petals
- Flower . . . Ovule? The bulb in the middle.
- Earrings
- Necklace
I could recolor some of these elements separately (for instance, separate the shirt and armband, or armband and cape) into separate layers to color them differently, but I'll tell you now that I'm not going to do ten miles of work for this. If someone asks me to do every dress panel in a different color, they'll be learning to deal with disappointment.

I have a request. It's basically your design but dark blue for your red and light blue for your yellow, Only difference is the necklace and headband with flower.I also like your skin tone, but would like the hair to be same color as skin. I have a picture I did in paint to give an approx of the colors of blue I like. I didn't do the cape but I'ld like it done same as yours. Please and Possibly Thank you in advance.

So a dark blue flower with light blue center, light/dark blue paneled dress and dark blue shirt, dark blue headband, Light blue earrings. Hair color matched to my current skin tone. I'm going to do a single color for the necklace, since it'll be a pain to change it so I can two-tone it. (Aside from separating the parts of the adjustment layers, each new layer is anywhere from three to sixteen values I need to balance to try and get a color.) Your sure you want the cape to be red, though? It might not match well with the blues; I think a dark blue would probably be a better match, as well as easier to accomplish. (Just because of how my layers are set up.) - Queue of tasks for the statue mod:
- As per the original, with black panels instead of yellow, and black pearls for the necklace
- Dark blue panels/shirt/cape, dark blue flower petals, light blue flower core, dress panels, headband, and earrings.

I had meant, I wanted to cape dark blue Sorry I had written the post then accidently deleted it, I must have forgot that part. Also the headband I would like to be light blue. The flower however I do want dark blue. Just like in my picture.

More colors available. First, the original colors with black panels instead of yellow in the dress, and a black-pearl necklace. You can get that one here. Next, the two-tone blues with plain hair. You can get that one here.

For the kids who have parental controls blocking access to other sites, you might want to consider simply attaching the zip files to your posts. I've explained the process in this answer in our Support FAQ.

This is a weird request but I'm just curious...can you make the statue's face look like Angelina Jolie (like in Beowulf)? And make the skirt all red and the hair dark brown? I missed this earlier; alterations of the features are a more difficult task, and one I'm not very good at. The rest of it would be easy enough to accomplish, though.

Black hair, darker skin. I think, personally, blue and green go together better than blue and purple (and purple and green not at all) so I'll probably do the dress and outfit in blue and green. As for purple, I'll probably do that with her accessories; perhaps a green necklace, and blue earrings, headband, purple flower petals with a blue core?
Anyway, I'll work on the colors a bit, and see how it turns out. If you have something more specific in mind, let me know. Also, with black hair and dark skin, I may not color the eyes at all - dark complexions usually have dark eyes.
Keep in mind, the pink and purple scheme is before you in line.

Sorry, Isla, missed yours! They shouldn't be hard tasks, but I think a gold statue already exists . . . am I wrong? If I don't see a reply here, though, I'll go ahead and try; but I'm going to do the other statue tasks first, since they're simple ones that I already have set up. The door should be simple too, but I'll have to check how many images are used by the amphitheater; matching colors from separate images can be annoying, but do-able. So, as of now my queue is set: - Red-green statue
- orange-black, dark complexion
- Gold statue/door/amphitheater carvings
- flowers for the gravestones

I have a request, can you make a tan skinned statue with a black and white dress, black top, black hair, white cape, white necklace, and the flower would be white petals with the middle black. Edit: sorry this was typed in from last night and I never saw your "my queue is set" post. You can do mine when your ready. No rush .

Tan as in, really dark, like the 'dark complexion' statue above? ( click here) Or somewhere in-between? Separating the cape to color separately shouldn't be too difficult. It'll come after the amphitheater and the graves, though, so it'll take a bit. Also, I've no time to work on any of it today.

How 'bout pearls for the necklace? And maybe the earring too? It gets around the too much yellow or red issue, and fits in with the VV3 puzzles... I like the red and yellow for the dress; it fits in with the Chief's robe. The mod looks great!

White's a little difficult, and I found it didn't match the colors all that well; my girl wanted black pearls, and THAT matched; the result is in the second statue I posted, along with red and black dress panels.

My apologies to all those who are waiting; among other issues in life, I'm lazy as heck, and a little busier than usual. Further work is on hold until other things are wrapped up, and further until I have a modicum of motivation back. No moaning and groaning, either. This was always a volunteer project, and I said straight up that it was all dependent on how lazy I was, among other factors. I do apologize for building up a backlog before quitting, though. EDIT: if anybody has photoshop, and wants the .psd's I use to recolor these, just ask; they're the original image, with a large set of color selection layers to recolor different portions of the image separately. If anybody shows any interest, just let me know, and I'll get them online for your download.

As my last official action, until and unless this project gets restarted, I'm packing all these color schemes together. All five painted statues are in the attached .zip file, separated into five directories. The demo pictures are in the root, named in the same manner as the directory, to make clear which directory contains which statue layout. that's okay. if you're not enjoying it, then you shouldn't be forced to do it. Not really that; just getting busy IRL, photoshop's being turned to other uses. And I know I have problems restarting old projects. Yes, please, I would love to have the .psd file. Since I've never recoloured objects before, this gives me the chance to see it all up close.
Thanks, Lurkily! Sure, Swedane. I'll shoot you a PM with a link to the files, and some instructions on how to use them. The upload will probably run while I'm at work, so 8 or 9 hours from the time of this post. If you like, you can post your work here; if not, well that's okay too.
