I know that the game was JUST released, and not everyone had gotten to play yet, but I wanted to start a topic where those who have gotten to try it can share what they think of it. I marked it a SPOILER topic so that those who haven't played won't wind up reading something that could ruin part of the game for them.
Now for my opinion: \:\)

I've been liking what I see in the demo so far, but I'm a little unsure about the "Magic" part... I wonder exactly what that involves... and if you can get through the game without it...

I like the children walking around looking for mommy. Of course it is also a bit sad. I also saw where one of the kids said looking for mushrooms. I hope they find them on there own.

Now, don't everyone die here, but I just don't think I'm going to buy it... I don't know... just the fact that the Magic faction is there at all is just a little.... off for me. *shrug*

Krystal,
A lot of islanders believe in magic. It's a common belief in isolated communities.

Must you choose between the two paths? I can see a buy button for both of them, but only one set of levels. Haven't got to the stage in the tutorial yet where they're mentioned (if at all)

You must choose one faction for a tribe.

If at the beginning you do the tutorial, it will tell you how to find the initial food source.

With the factions you must choose nature or magic. You can not do both in the same game.

You can get all the puzzles no matter whether you choose Nature or Magic. If you click the "?" beside each one, you'll see their advantages. It makes the game slightly different, so basically you have two ways to enjoy it. Whichever you choose this time, try the other one next time.

I agree...magic and voodoo are a huge part of island life, but before we make comment, we should see what it entails...sounds like a bit of fun to me

I'm so addicted to VV, I'd love to buy it, but I think I will wait until it is available through big fish or real arcade, I don't understand how it can cost twice as much to buy it directly from LDW? I love all their games though.

I loved it.I didnt get to play much of the free trial because i was taking care of my 1 yr old greatgrandson.he didnt want to set on my lap,while i played,he was sleepy so i had to quit and rock him.After he went home it took to long to figure out how to get the honey.Ill have to wait until shockwave gets it,before i can finish playing.

It such a cool game, thank LDW you've done it again! I love the graphics. So many nooks and crannies to explore with bountiful vegetation. The downpour is simply awesome. It's definitely a lot more challenging than previous versions.
I haven't got too far into the game, although I did get a Tribal Chief. Haven't found any other source of food than the one most of you know about. Hoping my Chinook tribe will be alive in the morning.

Expensive? sorry...but the aus cost is $21...when you consider what it must cost to develop a computer game, I consider that very little...you can go to other sites..but i dont trust them!

You have 5 until you progress to level 2 in your faction, then there are 6.

My opinion so far is that it is too hard to get food in the beginning. The honey runs out, the fruit tree runs out and takes a long time to replenish and it's only 100 something food that it produces each time.

Are you playing on Easy or Normal, Isla? My trees produce 400ish food.

I was lucky and got 400 food from an event and then more from another event 10 minutes after!

Something I don't like about VV3 is that you can't choose who the chief will be! I ended up making my only scientist the chief and then tried to get him to work!

Also does anyone think a VV4 might come out in a few months (It's probably a bit too early to think about this though! I haven't even played the full version of VV3!)

I think the guys from LDW have produced a lot of games back to back and deserve a bit of a break before they even decide what the next game will be, let alone making it.

I have to modify my opinion since I realize now that I overpopulated. Also should have tried playing on Easy level first. Once I selected a level (Normal), I couldn't switch it to Easy. I could click the button but the game was still playing on Normal level. This is a great game!

BTW, I still managed to get my little tribe without losing a single one through famine and overpopulation and they are now thriving.

I've always enjoyed playing the VV games and this one is not exception.

I like:
The puzzles.
The ambient sounds.
The new faces, some of the kids are just adorable.
That the parents determine how the kids are going to look.
The footprints in the sand.
The weather.
The potions are a hoot.
All around just how the kids play.
That the adults float in the bath.

I'm sure there's more... grin..

I LOVE THIS GAME!!

The puzzles are a lot more harder to figure out but require less
The orchad is awesome
The chief idea was great - really useful during famines!

I have noticed minor glitches like white lines next to peoples heads occasionaly but only that kind of stuff
BUT, I can't get much food, once my trees ran out \:\? , but still a great game! (I might "cheat" and slow down the game so the chief can make more food without it running out so fast!

Just a side note (and possible spoiler "kinda") - I read earlier in this thread that isla and xay were getting 100 and 400 fruit from their fruit trees?? I got 1000 on mine???? Glitch or just lucky???

Either way...love the game LDW...Great work once again!!!

As if we did not know it would be great \:\)

Great game! Took me a little bit to come up to speed (even with the tutorial), as I'd not played the other episodes.

The villagers are just too darn cute!!

Here are a few things I especially like about VV3, in no special order, and I've probably forgotten some:
  • footprints in the sand;
  • weather (especially the rain and lightning);
  • ease of training doctors;
  • villagers raising their arms, pointing, and lying down;
  • villagers practising their (bad) disco dancing in private;
  • the Chief, especially when s/he's proud of the tribe or busily directing work - even better if s/he's three years old;
  • Running for shelter from the rain and drinking the rain
  • Kids making sandcastles.
I know there are plenty more but that's enough to be going on with ...
