Welcome to the Official Forums for Last Day of Work!

We are glad that you have made your way to our forums, and we hope that you will find this to be a comfortable place to share the fun of LDW games.

To help make sure that this is a fun and safe place for our fans of all ages, we have established a few guidelines for participation here that include some important rules and some handy tips for finding your way around our growing forum community.

The rules of conduct for our forums:

  • No inappropriate language or images.

First, and foremost, these are family-friendly forums. All posts, Shout Box messages, and images that are displayed and/or submitted to the forums must be appropriate for audiences of all ages. Posts that contain inappropriate language, abbreviations, acronyms, or images (including, but not limited to violent, hostile, vulgar, sensual, or obscene) will be removed, and may result in locking of the poster's forum account. Uploaded images (e.g. avatars and post attachments) must be appropriate, or they will be removed.

Posting in "sub-culture" forms of communication (such as leetspeak) may result in posts being edited or deleted by forum moderators.
    .
  • Be considerate and respectful.

Our members come from all over the world and make up a diverse community of languages and cultures, all with a common interest in LDW games. Personal attacks, derogatory comments, flame wars, and ridicule are out of place anywhere on our forums, including the Shout Box, and will be removed. Members who receive offensive, threatening, or harassing private messages should contact a forum Admin for assistance.
    .
  • No posting of personal contact information.

Do not post personal contact information, do not reveal any personal information about another forum member, and do not reveal contents of private messages to other forum members who are not part of the private discussion. The safety of everyone here is very important to us, and every member's privacy must be respected. Members are encouraged to contact a forum Admin with privacy or safety concerns.
    .
  • No cheats, hacks, cracks, warez, piracy.

Posting or soliciting cheats, hacks, cracks, warez, piracy, any means of defeating copy-protection, or any behavior that constitutes a violation of local, state, national, or international laws or regulations is strictly prohibited on our forums.
    .
  • No links to inappropriate images or Web sites.

Links to images and other Web sites are permitted in posts or signatures, but it is your responsibility to ensure that any link that you post does not take users to a site that contains material that would be forbidden on our forums.
    .
  • No advertisements, spam, or solicitations.

Participants may not use the forums to post or transmit spam, advertisements or commercial solicitations of any kind. Anyone who posts this kind of content immediately after registering for our forums will have their posting privileges suspended permanently.
    .
  • No large or multiple signature images.

Signature images are allowed, subject to the forum rules governing appropriate content and copyright restrictions. In addition, the following restrictions apply and will be strictly enforced: Except for images awarded by LDW to winners of Official Games and Contests, a single, non-animated image will be allowed in user signatures, which can be no larger than 80 pixels high and 240 pixels wide.

Members who abuse forum signatures may have their forum account locked.
    .
  • No posting of copyrighted text or images.

Participants may not post material (text or image) that is protected by copyright, trademark or other proprietary right without the express permission of the owner of such copyright.

Text and images that are used in avatars, posts, and signatures that contain copyrighted material will be removed unless the member can show that they have permission to use the image.
    .
  • No posting of unofficial contests or games.

Participants may not initiate contests or games on the forums. The only contests and games allowed on the forums are those officially sponsored by LDW.
    .
  • No false information.

No forum member may knowingly provide false information or attempt to represent themselves as an official representative or employee of LDW. Forum Administrators and Moderators are clearly identified in forum's User List.
There may be other situations that are not covered by these rules, and the forum Administrators and Moderators have the right to edit, censor, delete or otherwise modify any posted message.

This web site does not verify or guarantee the accuracy of the material posted to the forums or bear any responsibility for any loss, damage, or other liabilities caused by any posted message.

Posting guidelines:

  • Learn your way around.

Take a few minutes to learn your way around before you post. We have dedicated forums for each of our games, as well as special forums for such things as technical support, polls, contests, game hints and guides, fan fiction and art, and introductions.
    .
  • Be a good forum citizen.

If you are new to forums in general, consider having a look at one of the many good forum etiquette guides on the Internet, such as this article on Wikipedia or these well-written guidelines on archlinux.org. Failing to follow the guidelines of accepted forum etiquette may result in administrator action.
    .
  • Consider introducing yourself.

Consider introducing yourself in the Introductions forum, so that we can get to know you and give you a warm welcome.
    .
  • Post in the correct forum/topic and do not cross-post.

Please find the appropriate forum or topic before making a post. Posting in the right forum or topic makes the best use of everyone's time, and your post will have the best results when it's in the right place. Posting in the "wrong" forum, making off-topic posts in an existing topic, or posting the same thing in multiple forums, creates extra work for everyone and could result in your post(s) being deleted.
    .
  • No frivolous, duplicate, or multiple consecutive posts.

Posts should be meaningful and constructive and add to the discussion in a positive way. Posting simply to increase your post count will usually result in a private message from an administrator. shocked

Avoid making multiple consecutive posts. You can edit your own posts for up to 6 hours after you make them, and it's just as easy to click the Edit button as it is to click the Reply button.

Frivolous posting makes the forums hard to read for everyone, and creates significant workload for the Moderators and Admins. Some examples of the kinds of frivolous posts to avoid: One or two-word posts (especially "lol" or other text-message abbreviations, "ditto," "same," or "me, too"), posts announcing that you're the first (or second, etc.) poster in a thread, posting that you aren't a Newbie anymore, or posting unhelpful responses, such as "I dunno, but I'm sure somebody does."
    .
  • Pay attention to the "sticky posts."

Pay particular attention to the "sticky" posts at the top of each forum. They contain active discussions and answers to commonly asked questions. They may be just what you're looking for!
    .
  • No game spoilers, unless there is a spoiler tag.

Don't post game spoilers in threads that are not specifically tagged as spoilers (check the first post in the thread to make sure it has a spoiler tag). Doing so creates a game-ruining hazard for people who are browsing the forums.
    .
  • Do not use private messages as a substitute for the forums.

Please do not use Private Messages as a substitute for the forums. There are thousands of members and only a handful of Moderators and Admins. You will usually get your question answered much more quickly if you post it in the forums, and many other people will benefit from the answer if it's there for all to see.
    .
  • Make good use of the forum features and help resources:
    .
    1. My Stuff has all sorts of cool features that let you do everything from personalizing your forum experience to finding your own posts (that you might have "misplaced").
      .
    2. The search function is a good way to find what you're looking for, and it has options to search a specific forum or group of forums, change the date range of the search, or even search for posts from a specific member.
      .
    3. The Forum FAQ provides many answers to common forum questions, and here is a forum explanation post.
      .
    4. User lists, Active Topic lists, Who's Online, and UBB Buddy lists can all help you keep up with your friends and lively discussion topics on the forums.
      .
    5. Private Messages can be used for communications that are not of general interest to our community.
