Took several days to make blue glass, took it to the statue, clicked off the game after a few more minutes, only to go back to it later and find the blue glass has gone out of the statue and isn't in the crafting hut either! Is this a glitch or do I have to make the blue glass all over again?

It's hard to say if that situation is due to a glitch or was caused by unfortunate timing. Like most games, VV Origins 2 saves every few minutes. If you close the game before your recent activity has been saved, you may lose recent game progress. Without knowing more about the actions you took and the exact order and timing involved, it's impossible to know the cause.
