Is there any way to increase the knowledge of a healer other than the healer helping a villager who is sick? VV3 had an area where the healer could increase his knowledge - the hospital area. For the life of me, I cannot find ANYTHING for the healer to do. No plants to study like in VV1 and VV2. NADA! If anyone knows the answer, please let me know and then ya can hit me on the head and call me stupid, lol. Loving the game so far, except for this little matter.

However, I will tell you that as the game progresses, you should find a better way to train healers.

If you go into the tech screen and click on all the question marks, one of them specifically mentions a building that will help you here.

In the other games, there was a herb or a place where a trainee doctor could be put to study or gain experience, eventually becoming a master. Is this still possible in VV4?

Your villagers will be able to build a hospital where healers can train, but you need level 3 Medicine. Click the ? next to Medicine on the Tech screen.
