Oh dear I'm so sad, my first person has died. I thought she was asleep and I clicked on her and her ghost waved goodbye to me.
Then I read the part about the new generation and I thought the son would come back and live with his father, so I clicked on new generation, but now I only have the son, and the father has disappeared.

It would really be so nice if the kids that reture could take care of the aging parent, but it doesn't work that way. frown

If I am correct, when you choose a child to inherit the home, they alone live there to marry and start the next generation. Any surviving parent and siblings who were still at home are gone forever.

The first time one of my peeps died, I actually yelled, "oh, oh, my goodness. Oh, no!" My grown daughter rushed in and asked what was wrong and I told her one of my little peeps died. She laughed at me and said, "Gee, Mom, I thought something happened to you. Stop scaring me like that!" Well, I couldn't help it. It was so sad and they wave bye at you and of course I waved bye back and told them bye, too. Gee, I have got to get a life, lol!

Don't feel too bad, cindy, I was pretty much in shock myself. Although I'm the type that gets totally quiet at times like that instead of shouting, but it was upsetting to me as well.

Geminoz6, the first time that happened to me, I was left with a very depressed widow. I tried for a while to get her to cheer up and then I thought -- Oh, I know, I'll have one of her kids move back in with her and be with her until she passes on.

Nope -- I found out the same thing you did and was not very happy about it either. I guess it's because the new generation has to use the only double bed in the game and that might have been a bit odd -- having Grandma go sleep in the kiddy room.

That is one thing that I would love to see if they ever made another VF - have a spare room in the house...that way "IF" the grandparent(s) is still around for the next generation they can sleep in there. Hmm...just food for thought.

If you choose the oldest child to take over, and there is a 5 YO I feel it should take the younger siblings!! having 5 kids, and mom dad dying?? what happens to the youngers??

I'm seriously thinking of pausing my first family forever when they get to 59 or so. My other fams I don't care so much about, but these have been with me since the begining! I'll be so sad if someone goes!

So sad that we have to wait for someone to die to move on to the next level! frown

If you look at the ages of all of the children, as you select who is to inherit the house, you will see they have all grown up.

All of them have grown up and are also the same age. There isnt the same age difference in them as they were as children.
