I've decided to play all of my VV games (starting with VV1) before VV5 comes out.

There are a few things that I don't remember and have tried using the advanced search function, but since most of the answers were given in 2005, I'm not having much luck as the search only goes back 2 years.

Am I doomed to reading all 220+ pages???

You can search back to when VV1 was released using Advanced Search. Just clear out the fields in "Newer than" and set the date range in "Older than" to 2, 3, or 4 years (depending upon how far back you want to go) and set the VV1 as the forum to search. For example, if you search for "fishing" in the VV1 forum, with a date range of "Older than 4 years" you'll get 8 pages of topics dated between August '06 and October '06. If you want to have more control over the exact dates, you can use months. For example, doing the same search, but using 49 months instead of 4 years would return posts that go all the way back to Village Sim, before VV1 was released.

Hi Barbara!

I tried both ways (4 years, then 49 months) but got this message:

The specified date range is too wide. The maximum date range you can search with is 2 years

Guess I've got to read all of the pages!!

Are you sure that you cleared out both of the "Newer than" fields and set the "Older than" fields to 4 years? It works fine with date ranges more than two years for "Older than" but if you try it with "Newer than" you'll get the error you mentioned.

ajuma, make your date range look like the image below and it will work. You must empty both the "newer than" boxes. The second image is the results of the search.

Never thought of doing it that way!

And thanks Barbara! I guess I didn't clear all the boxes the first time!

You're welcome ajuma. smile To be honest, I never knew it could be done either until I read Barbara's post. So we're both doing great by learning something new today! smile
