I've had this game for a while and I still keep a few of my old games alive. (Great game, don't get me wrong)

Suddenly thought i'd start a new one again, and they've all mysteriously died TWICE in a row now and i'm getting annoyed! Seemingly they've starved for no good reason.

I build them up to about 10-15 villagers, get them sorted on harvesting crops, make sure they have a good 600+ food stash, close the game for about 10 mins, come back to it and find they've no food and they've starved or there's been some kind of unexplained massacre killing them all!

Ten minutes...... TEN MINUTES to eat a 675 food stash and die of starvation?! It never did this when I first bought it, can't keep anyone alive now. That's about six wasted hours each per game, not on. Humph, rant over.

check the game log in the virtual villagers directory right after you open the game and it will tell you what happened to everyone and what they died of. The log is cleared each restart so you have to do it when the problem occurs then post your log results and we can look at it and help ya out

Yeah, ten minutes seems way too brief for anything to happen. Let us know what the log says.

Hi ok I trawled through it all (5 other OLD games running too!)

and between 19:21:54 and 19:21:57 is runs down as starvation damage until 0 on them all - no mention of food yet I left them with well over 600, I remember distinctly. In fact there's no mention of a food count in that part of the log at all.

Thanks xxx

Hi, thanks for the help but i've just figured out why - it's to do with the clock on my computer. It's been reading wrong over the last few days whenever I switch my comp on so when I adjust it right the game obviously reads it and thinks hours have passed when they haven't.

Thanks anyway and let it be a warning to everyone else (although the reason i found out was that when I turned my comp on just now and had to set it forward to the right time, my villagers grew up and gained skill points very quick, so can also be a good thing for the impatient!)! lol xxx

Can also cause harm to your computer and programs on your computer that are based on time such as antivirus programs etc. So be warned indeed

Many computers have a battery that maintains power for the system clock when the computer is off. Those batteries eventually become depleted and need to be replaced. You might want to check to see if that's what is causing problems with the clock setting on your computer.

Hi,

So how did you fix this? If I don't spend all my time monitoring them they starve.
