I am at 0 food and I have no more berries, I found the rich soil, but I keep taking my sims there and they are not doing anything. Where is another source of food? I keep reading there are 3 sources. I have taken my vs all over the island and cannot find any other food source.

You need farming level 2 to use the soil. This is what your tech points are for.

Think of it like an RPG in a way. The tech points are like your experience, so that you can level up your skills.

Well all my villagers died. I did not have enough tech points to reach the farming level 2, and I could not find any other food than the berries. I guess I will need to start over.

Most of us have had all of our villagers die the first time or two that we played the game. That's how we learn what works and what doesn't!

One successful strategy for getting your village going is to put two villagers to work foraging for food and the rest of the villagers working at the research table. That way, you'll be able to purchase Harvesting L2 before your village runs out of food. You should also hold off on growing your population until you get farming, because the kids eat as much as the adults. If you start the game on easy, you'll get 6 villagers (and that will give you an extra person to do research)!

VSSTEF, well if they are all dead, then yes you will need to start over. At the very beginning, most players will concentrate on getting level two harvest. As you can see that is very important, as the berry bush will not produce enough berries to keep the villagers feed. And as you can see on the info screen on Harvesting, level three will get you the third source of food.

I started with 2 doctors, to make sure know one died, one farmer, hope your food doesn;t wash away, and 3 researchers to get to food level 2.

I don't mess around with docs. I'll put three on food detail as soon as i start and the other two on research. Once food gets oaver 500, i'll put four on research and one on harvesting. When food gets close to 400, i'll move one of the researchers over to food detail again, and so fourth. Once I get haversting 2, i'll pretty much keep two on food and the rest on research and start breeding.

There are lots of different ways to play this game, and this is just the way I do it.
