Attached is an Excel document that I am using to document my breeding. Each Flower-type is a separate sheet, and each sheet allows you to document what breeding each folliage combination of that flower with each other plant from the full list of 500+ plants. I have use pictures from Barbara's documents in the sheet.

The document is blank for you to fill in yourselves - a couple of examples have been given though.

SPOILER : The document contains a list of all plant names, and pictures of each folliage and flower type. A couple of examples have also been filled in - so please beaware of this.

NOTE: The Excel sheet contains a Macro that will automatically copy the breeding to the inverse. I.e. if you enter in the grid (and worksheet) for Plant1 vs Plant2, the inverse (plant 2 vs plant1) will automatically be completed for you.

Please comment if you find this helpful/unhelpful.

Thanks,
Kranser.

Thanks for the excel sheet. I love the macro, but It just seems really huge and unwieldy. It does make the entering easier, without having to hunt for the inverse. Thank you for the time you put into this. Have a Great Day!

Yes, very true. The sheet is huge and unwieldy.

But without knowing any pattern, there are over 500 plants, but over 500 X 500 breeding patterns to get those plants (with many duplicates).

Hopefully the excel sheet will be helpful in identifying patterns so that you won't need to actually enter all 500 * 500 breedings!

Amazing, thoughtful work, and much appreciated! I tried for something on this order when I first started, but what I ended up with was pages and pages of notes I can't make heads or tails of now! I've found 4 MPs so far, but my innate sense of order would have LOVED having this from the start - not to cheat with, just to enter what I found when I found it! I'll definitely use it in my next game. Don't care how "big" it is - it doesn't even come close to my stacks of paper!

Thanks again for your work, and well done!

I have added a plant checklist to my previous document.

It should be possible to cut and paste your answers from the previous XLS to this one - however it is safer to test this sheet by adding a few results yourself first.

This version puts a Y in the found column of the 'List' sheet everytime a new plant is found - and shows a messagebox to confirm the find.

I'm confused, Kranser. I downloaded your first one and think it's marvelous! But I have a question. When you're talking about what it puts where, is this a program??? Or just a spreadsheet. If it's a program, how do I get it to run (not real computer literate here, but follow directions well!)? I'd appreciate any info, as I'm sure others would! Thanks!

It is a small program (or Macro) in Excel that copies the information to the required inverse position and updates the checklist.

The program runs as a Macro in the background. But (for the programming-literate) it can be seen by pressing Alt+F11 from within Excel.

Miniflowers, you should check the security settings in Excel. I'm pretty sure that macro security is set high by default, which will allow only signed macros from trusted sources to run. To check your settings, from the Excel menu go to Tools ==> Options and click the Security Tab. At the bottom of that tab, you'll find a button for Macro Security.

I'm excited about being able to do this, Barbara. I did go to Tools, Options, Security with no problem... HOWEVER, there was no button at the bottom or otherwise for Macro Security. I have Windows XP and run Mozilla. Any conflict? Anything I can do? Thanks!
