I noticed when I unzipped his file that it was titled plantty_blank2 [Read Only] - is it the "read only" that was put in that's doing it?

You need to be in Microsoft Excel to set the macro security. It doesn't have anything to do with either Windows or your browser. \:\)

Okay - when I open the file, it opens it in the Excel Viewer - and there is no Tools button, etc. available. The only time I can get to Tools, Options, Security that I know of is through Windows. Is there an Excel that I don't have that's other than the viewer that reads only? I so appreciate your help on this! Thanks for bearing with me!

I don't know if the Excel Viewer will run macros; somehow I doubt it. I think you'd need the full version of the program.

Oh Barbara - you're gonna shoot me! And if not, you should! Well, one of those things I obviously put off when I got my computer was bothering to go online and download my Excel goodies - including my Office trials. Couldn't use it 'coz I didn't have it - but I'm downloading it as we speak.

It's kinda like making sure the plug is plugged in before you call the repairman when the TV won't work, right???

I'm an eeeeeeeeeeediot!

Thanks anyhow!

I didn't realize that you were using the Excel Viewer. The viewer is just that - it lets you look at an Excel file in read-only mode, and will not run macros.

Yep, ergo the name "Viewer," right. The more I thought about it, the more I figured I was missing something. Went through my programs, went through the CDs that came with the computer, went to the MS website and got a free trial. It's all easy when you know how, right?

Thanks again! You're a peach!

Well, I installed it and even put myself through a crash course on Excel spreadsheets - and it works! Thanks, guys! Once I get this last MP, I'm going to start over and use it - I'm such a paper person! lol

WOW! Thank you so much for your hard work on this. I too have stacks of paper so this will be much easier for me to follow and organize.
Thanks again!
