There is the rank of Master Healer. LadyCFII pointed this out in another topic, I don't remember which one: It takes longer to get from Adept to Master than from Trainee to Adept.
Basically, the villagers sort of reach a plateau and stay with about the same amount of skill for a while, but then they gain more after some more work at it.

They don't reach a plateau and stay the same, ever. It's just that the amount of increase in their skill gets smaller as they gain more experience. They will always gain *some* skill each time they are successful at a task.

I did say "about" the same. Not exactly the same, but not completely different, you know? Sorry I got mixed up.

No problem. I just wanted to make sure that there wasn't a misunderstanding of how it works. The word plateau does tend to indicate something flat that stays the same.
