You can actually do all of that within Paint.

Just do the Control + Print Screen
Paste into Paint
working with a single plant at a time, use the "rubber band" selection tool to outline the picture
Go Edit -> Copy To
name your picture

Paint allows you to save a small part of a larger image as a file, but strangely you don't access it from the File menu.
