Have you seen screen shots of fancy pots, a different greenhouse or nursery, and cool-looking flowers? Those are all from game modifications (mods) that have been produced by the very talented members of our community here. It's easy to put those mods into your game, and they are some of the goodies that you'll find in our Plant Tycoon Guides Section!

It's short for "modifications" and, for our games, usually involves editing the game's image files to create a new "look" for many elements of the game. You can see examples of game modifications here.

Hmmm. Thinking to myself here on what areas could be modded ... The plants themselves, plus the seeds, shouldn't be touched. The graphics are lovely already, and any changes would only confuse things.
The Main screen - perhaps some changes to the design of the pots? I imagine the insects would be a difficult job to alter. Backgrounds to the snapshots can be changed easily.
The seeds screen - possibly some changes to the colours of the seed trays? The actual layout couldn't really be altered.
The Collection screen - maybe a different background?
The Nursery screen - changes to the background? Visitor's clothes? Some of the bought garden "furniture"?

It would have to be a very good mod indeed to improve in any way on the artwork already supplied!

I think you could just use the VV image files for the people in the nursery.

i would love to see new pots, or perhaps just mods with the same pot in every slot so i could geta real sense of uniformity without having to fill pots with soil, and trash them repeatedly to get all the pots the same!

I need a little help...I can't find the pot file! I'm looking through all the images, and there are so many things I could mess with, but no pots!

Thankyou :). I'm wondering exactly how this mod thing works. In the image there is a line of pots. Can I add pots to it or do I have to modify the existing ones for them to show?

You can't add pots, and you must not alter the position of the pots in the image, or they will not be aligned correctly in the game. Also, you will need to use an image editing program that supports the .png file type and preserves transparency, or you will have ugly white boxes around each pot. Always back up the original files before you start editing anything, in case you mess up the images.

When are there gonna be step by step guides for making MPs. Two of them are wuite simple and can be made by cross-pollinating two of the starter plants!

There are many approaches to solving all of the plants, this one just gives information about one way. It all really depends on which starter plants and seeds are available when you start the game. But for people who are truly stuck, reading this may help.

I made a "Getting Started" guide that I PMed to ladycfii and it says pretty much how to get three MPs, but I decided not to post how to get all of them, since it's just for "Getting Started"

AtarahPern has created a nursery mod that incorporates VV2 images into the ornaments, which you can now find in the Guides.

They look great.

I know my gold pots are not gold. It's a mod I did, I used one of Charley gold pots, the real gold pot, 3 of Gamemastr's gold pots and PurplePaw's gold pot in my green house. The one outside is also Gamey's.

Hi - my people in the nursery are "thinking" about purple roses. You nmentioned them for this post, but I saw nothing about how to get them. Are they one of the plants that can be bred?

Actually, the purple roses are not usually in the game, but you can download a modification of the game's image files that makes the roses purple.

Hi Arnie , as a mod for PT ,how about the ability to increase or change the available start money?

Could you change the amount of time plants take to grow to be mature? I think it would be cool if extremely rare plants could take a long time to grow and common plants could only take a few minutes.

i am having a wee bit of a problem with plant tycoon.my supply seeds are not refilling in 24 hrs. sometimes takes up to 36. i have not played with the time. also does anybody have any charts that i can print out. do not have access to google docs

There are a lot of good breeding guides in the Plant Tycoon Guides in our forums (click Forum List and scroll down - below the games section).

You don't necessarily have to have "played with the time" to have a problem with the game's timers. Many people have accidentally changed the system clock, or Windows has done it for them to correct a drifting system clock.

How often do seeds become available in supplies?

The Supply Shop gets new seeds approximately every 24 hours of "real" time (according to your computer's system clock).
