1.Make the shop's prices lower.Common plants go for 8 bucks, and I'm expected to get 800 to be able to experiment with crossbreeds(Level 2 soil). What doesn't help is your coustomers are braindead. They are staring right at a plant and don't know the giant plant is there. It's understandable in Fish tycoon,I myself can barley see the things, but bright plants? On the subject of coustomers, there is a coustmer possibility that looks a lot like Mario.Hope you got a good lawyer.
2.Take off the "Doses" system on level 1 items. If you're going to put a price of a hard earned 85 bucks just so a plant can('t) see the light of day with insect poison means that likley another one is infested. And another. You're going to have at least the whole bottle down in 3 hours. But now you're broke, and the most expensive plant is dead.
Why not make it so that you can get refills at lower prices?
Speaking of spray, the "Use _bug_ spray" arrow in the tutorial points to plant food.Took me the whole bottle to find out it was a seperate item.

1) The ability to move tools around, or at least move the bugnet away from the pruning sheers. It may be because I use a tablet and it has sensitivity settings but I almost always end up grabbing the sheers instead of that net when a rare _bug_ flutters across the screen...I have many bald plants from it \:\(

2) More space for plants! 15 pots isnt enough, Ive already got 7 favorites, and it sadden me that every so often I have to go sell them because I just have no room and I need more cash. In Fish Tycoon you at least had other tanks, if you wanted to keep some faves you could do so without being handicapped for the rest of the game, I wish that were true in this too. There are just so many lovelies this time around, I was sad when I realized I couldnt purchase another greenhouse or anything.

3) Similar to the above, how about a directory that lists all the plants you have bred in the game. Completing the listing would not only help us go back to see some of our favorite plants but it would give us one more goal in the game. Not just unlocking the secrets to breed all 700 plants, but actually growing them all at least once.

4)Ability to sell things when you're not in the nursery area. Maybe a hired hand, and you would have to pay him some of your profits to keep him working? It would be nice to place my plants for sale and not have to remain in the selling area for such a long time, the growing babies need attention.

5)How about a magnifying glass in the shop? LOL Im not the only one who has a hard time discerning whether a strand of grass is healthy Im sure. On some plants its really tricky to figure out whats alive or dead, and whether its *this* leaf or the one behind it.

6) One minor little petpeeve is that...in both this and Fish Tycoon you're a guy. Cmon now, let me be a girl. Have the little person be randomly generated maybe, but I would at least like a 50/50 chance of being a woman. We can manage businesses too, you know :P

My biggest personal peeve, the ability to store more seeds!

It would also be cool if you could continue to see the breeding/pollination history of the plants like you could in fish tycoon.

Totally addicted to the game anyway!

1) It would be nicer if you could double click on the seeds produced to send them to the seed box or the trash rather than having to drag them across the screen. It's very tedious when you have 5 seeds per plant from 15 plants and want to maximize your profits.

2) Instead of (or in addition to) the "sold" signs in the nursery, you should have a tally of how many plants are left to sell (like in Fish Tycoon). There have been MANY times that I scan the nursery thinking everything is sold and come to find out that one was still left. It's more difficult to sell one plant alone than it is to sell when the nursery is full.

I agree with the suggestion to have the ability to buy more space for plants so that we can grow more than 15 at a time. I also agree that we need a magnifying glass or ability to view one plant close-up at a time.

I can't agree with the OP's suggestions... if you want it easy, then play on Easy mode...

But I agree with many other people. ESPECIALLY being able to hire someone for your shop so you can sell and grow at the same time.

Thinking about it, being able to move your plants out of the greenhouse "breeding area" and into another area (while they sell) would do the same thing.

Actually i decided to have that little peep behind the counter because he looks soooooo much like Arthur and I thought it was very cute to have "Arthur" in the game \:\) I see of course your point...

First off, this is a beautifully wonderful game. I have read most of the suggestions for PT2 but I don't agree with them all. Please(fellow gamers) be patient and don't bite my head off. But most of the suggestion would make the game easier, but most will detract from the mystery and adventure in the game. I am keeping track of my plants, mutations, seeds, sales, etc in spreadsheets and notes. Its like doing research, its totally enjoyable to me. I know it is so tempting to want the big money and basic items quick, fast and in a hurry. But having to work for them makes the reward and lasting game experience much more desirable and satisfying. Most of you have numerous magic plants, I have yet to find one. In my discovery process I am having the time of my life. As for moving the tools around I like being able to just click in the general area and the tool goes back in place.

I think the best suggestion was to have an option for a second nursery the way you could the seed boxes....

Otherwise the game is fantastic! I am having a wonderful time playing!!

I think it would be interesting if you could export and import seeds. Don't you think trading seeds would be fun? You could actually share your favorite plant with people, not just show a picture.

I think the coolest would be earning enough money to visit Isola and training to raise plants say tier IV plants there. Two tasks in one for our programmers. Adding a gardener job to the villagers for VV3 raising herbs and exotics and a surprise new visitor who would have to learn to live on Isola and take home the skills for the shop to thrive.

I AM playing on easy mode.
I'm guessing I'm to used to having easier games.Fish tycoon had me pulling my hair out because I couldn't tell WTD(What the duck) I was doing, but I soon found out the secrets to being rich.Plant tycoon would make me a bald lion.Very detailed tutorial, but I still had to find out quite a few things on my own.
The biggest problem is you can't crossbreed without trial-and-error.You try one combo doesn't work, pollinate the plant.Try another,it doesn't work.
What we need is a guide to what plants crossbreed better in Soil A.I have never really needed a guide so detailed for any game except this.

You may want to check out my Seed Catalog in the Guides section...

Pages 2-4 contain pictures of the seeds, flower and foliage names that may be too many spoilers for some, but the first page contains an introduction to the Tier system and some basic gardening facts. It is still spoiler information (in that some players may want to figure it out on their own), but it is useful to avoid bald-headed LDW fans. ;\)

I want to clarify that I didn't agree with the original poster either. My suggestions were not to make the game easier, just a bit less tedious.

Seed guide didn't help.
It says some can grow. Not all.
The thing is outright confusing anyway...

Sorry about that... When it syas "with TLC some can survive for some breeding programs" it means just that. Don't plant the seed and go away, expecting to find a healthy plant. Instead, watch it carefully, prune dead leaves when seen (and the health bar has room to improve) and don't prune any healthy leaves (with green shears.) Some of these plants will survive to maturity in order to pollinate or be pollinated. Some will klive long enough to produce a seed or two, or quickly move them to the nursery and you may be able to sell them. (But more often than not, I was happy to find the name of the plant (and try the seed again later) and use it to pollinate another plant or maybe get a new seed. But I needed to be ready the moment it matured for any potential breeding before I had enough Isola Bucks to upgrade my soil.

I've had the game for 4 days.. and yes lost sleep becuz I was too busy playing. I've also had to restart about 6 times because of unintentially killing the plants while pruning. I would definitely like to see the next version have a zoom option.
I've actually gotten a headache or two from squinting and putting my nose to the monitor.
How about not having so many duplicate seeds for the first planting? Ive had to restart because Ive had more than one game where I ended up with only 6 or less plants and all the rest duplicates. To be honest its darned frustrating and its making me loose interest.
I also agree that a second greenhouse would be a good thing...one for breeding.. one for pollinating.. and then the nursery. Also can we have the plants we move to the nursery stay in the nursery? I think I was spoiled by Fish Tycoon in that regard.

Personally, I love Plant Tycoon! It's an excellent game, and I think the high prices of certain items and the added difficulty of Tier 4 plants makes the game more interesting. If we wanted an easy game, we would have downloaded something with "Dora the Explorer" or "Sesame Street" in the title. \:\)

The only suggestion I can thing of that might improve the game is some kind of mini-game(s) to play while your plants grow if you'd prefer not to leave them. You could have a little status window in a corner when playing the mini game that showed circles for your plants which turned colors as they grow, end up unhealthy, become infested, or produce seeds. That way you could monitor your plants without just sitting with a net in hand waiting for a _bug_ (though _bug_ catching is fun, too). Perhaps sorting seeds for the supply shop, or playing games like plant-themed Solitare. Something that gives you a few extra bucks or perhaps even a chance at a random seed based on the amazingness of your score at the mini-game(s).

The only other thing I can think of is a seed tray that allows you to store identicle seeds (meaning seeds that have the same species of parent plants) together. That would make organizing the seed tray a lot easier. And I agree that having some kind of geneology chart in game for the plants would make things easier, though a notepad with the game in windowed mode works, too.

Thanks for making such a fun game LDW! \:\)

I don't really see the point in giving suggestions for PT2. There isn't even a FT2 so why would there be a PT2. However, I can see these as suggestions for any new breeding game they may be contemplating.
I don't agree with most of the suggestions anyway.
*Pruning is something you get better at with experience. *Lowering prices would just make the game too easy.
*I don't care if 'my person' is a boy or a girl...he doesn't do anything but sit there.
*Having a hired hand sell while you're breeding...again...makes game too easy.
I would like to be able to rearrange the tools.
I would like an extra seed box. If there are over 500 species, 3 boxes don't cut it. lol

I haven't seen one black person in my peeps. I'm sure I remember a person of color in VV1. My clientele is all white. I'm not even a black person, but this annoys me.

I'm fine with the pricing, after some trial and error, you can quickly reach plants with tier 1 soil that will sell for $140 each. At that point money really isn't an issue any longer.

My annoyance is another person's treasure.... breeding management. I don't want to have to resort to Excel or external notes to figure out what I've done and where to go, I'd like some sort of management tool within the game. If you don't like that, you don't have to use it, but I'd prefer not to have to take so many notes. The game is still fun just trying out and finding new breeds without having to take notes as well.

hi everyone. i am not really new just havent been here for a while...anyway i agree w/ the other suggestions. i just started playing this game and i love it. i also have fish tycoon and i love that too. i even got my son into it. but there should be another nursery, and we should be able to decorate it anyway we want. also the upgrade prices are too high how about gradually raising them not totally breaking ya pockets...also i think that we need more pots. it woulb be easier if we could start from scratch, i mean building the nursery from the bottom up just like in fish tycoon.....oxox

It's funny how many ideas we can come up with to "improve" on a pretty perfect game to start with, but I have some myself.

1. My first and biggest is the length of time (24 hours) it takes new seeds to appear in the supply room. If you (by this I guess I mean butterfingers me!) accidentally trash your last plant (no seed left) or sell it, etc., it's hard enough to keep shelling out the bucks to hopefully play the seed lottery and get another (but part of the game and necessary fun), but I'm trying to play methodically and not get off on tangents, so waiting 24 hours to even TRY for that seed is a bit excessive, maybe? So, if we have the bucks, can we spend 'em quicker than once every 24 hours?

2. No seeds that look alike. This just drives me crazy, especially when it's a cross that you haven't planted yet to see what the final plant is. If they have to look alike, then they should be "labeled" - all seeds have names.

3. Selling in the nursery to continue in the background, please.

4. A button that will allow you to change options without messing up where you were in the nursery would help immensely - or being able to go to the menu and come back with things as they were when you left.

5. Expanded breeding history (as in FT) would be ducky!

6. Seed pull-down that shows names of plants, not just pix.

Now, this isn't hurrying my game along, and certainly isn't using cheats, but it is closer to how I'd run a "real" nursery. Anything to allow organization - I'm all for!

Looking forward to PT2 for Windows and I've only found 2 MPs yet! lol

I seen 2 suggestions that I have thought of also. I would really like a magnifing glass so I can quit butchering my poor plants. lol. They look like they went through a paper shredder and also, I have had trouble selling on plant come to find out that I didnt prune away a dead leaf.
The other suggestion is an easier way to move the seeds. Like maybe when clicked, have a little question box asking how many to move and where to move them too. Just something to make the job of moving seeds easier. Other than that PERFECT game. I got it the day it came out. I LOVEEEEEEEEE it.

Quick addition to the above that backs up what I was saying about no seeds looking alike... Because I know they can look alike and be different plants in this game, I just spent $2000 on a seed that looked like another seed I had, hoping it would be different. It wasn't. Now, if a seed store or nursery tried to sell me a seed for $2000, they'd better be able to identify it and guarantee it! lol Please, no seeds that look identical.

it would be too easy if none looked alike!

i don;t mind that they loko slike, because at least the appearance tells you wich species of plant you are getting, and which tier its on!

Wouldn't be easy for me! lol And I'm serious, if I were to contemplate spending $2,000 on a single seed, I sure as heck would be positive what I was getting before I shelled out the bucks! lol To me, that's not easy, it's business, it's practical, and it's reasonable! lol

Everyone has their opinion, though, eyes, and I respect yours, too! I don't care if the shapes stay the same, just colors being different would help, names would help, etc. - at least, they'd help me, and maybe some of us need more help than others! lol

true

but if you want that 2,000 to become 20,000 or even 200,000 you ahve to be willing to take risks

I just come back from my doctor and while I was in the waiting room looking at the plants and I thought:
Why not a window box of flowers in PT2? The challenge would be to put in the same box some plants that can grow together (some plants couldn't be together in the same soil) and to take care of the attractiveness in the same time!
Just a little idea! \:\)

Just for esthetics, I'd love to have a wind chime in the nursery, just tinkling away - nothing you have to "set off" yourself, just with the breezes. I like the one in the garden and would love to have one I could buy to decorate the nursery that would sound as nice! They soothe and attract me - bet they would to visitors, too! \:\)

And - speaking of sounds - randomly generated bird calls, maybe a buzzing bee from time to time, and I'd love to be able to purchase butterflies to let loose in the nursery. Think that would be a customer atractant, also!

First off I would have to say that this is one of the most enjoyable games I have ever come across, and I thought that about Fish Tycoon too! I have even quit playing WOW and GW for PT. I am a notes and spreadsheet person too, just like lp7p, and I am enjoying the waiting to see the little sprouts. However, for those who are not notes and spreadsheet people, it would be easiest to have a listing with ??? marks that fill in once you've bred the plant, as well as a genealogy tab to see the parents and grandparents. Another thing I completely agree with is the magnifying glass to see your plants, I've completely junked a grass plant just to get to the three little grey hairs at the very back of the plant. And of course, MORE greenhouses!
An idea for PT2 of my very own, so far, and that is, Tadaa, having a great game. And since it Might be made by LDW, I know my idea will be in there. Have a Great Day!!

Great ideas, Mydnight - I love your idea of the ??? listing that automatically fills in! Terrific! And- also the genealogy tab! Hope these gets a LOT of support! I'll gladly trade away any of my suggestions (so far ) to see these implemented!

I second that! The ??? listing is the perfect solution, mechanical rather than revealing. I like the genealogy tab too--but would prefer it to stay with just the parents, not the grandparents--leaves a bit more challenge. That would save the cumbersome process of stashing the generating seed of a new plant so I can go back and look at the seed to get the parentage, yet wouldn't provide any more non-mechanical clues than we have now.

Two things, One:
Though someone made a mod for this already, why not include it, hotkeys to prep and water the pots.

Two, MORE SEED SPACE. Other than that I'm satisfied.

I agree with Jazzo's suggestions. A plant listing would be great, but maybe a bit of a spoiler for some.

I would like to see a stat for # plants died, and the lower you are, the better (like villagers died in VV)

i'm not sure i would want to see a "Plants Died" category

i think it might be sufficient to add a seeds planted category which could be used in conjunction with the plants sold category already in place to figure out how many plants you had lost
