Does what kind of plant you grow effect what sort of bugs that will appear.

The Common Fern Butterfly always the bugs to appear, this happen when I was growing Ferns.

In other case, when I was growing Maranta, the common Shiny Blue Beetle always appear, but they doesn't appear, while I was growing Ferns.

I'm not sure if flowers had anything to do with it.

I might do a chart of which bugs appear to which plants.

I've noticed the same thing. I'd never seen the Bamboo Spider before, but then I had two show up in the space of ten minutes, from the same pot containing *drumroll* bamboo!

Its a good idea to keep track of it though keep it going and see what you find.

I was just coming onto the boards to ask the same question. I have all ferns growing and all I seem to get are green butterflies!

I seem to get a lot of Golden Beetles when I've got a crop of Aureus Ananas going.

I've figured a clue might be the foliage that's in the collection jar for each _bug_/beetle. Presumably that's what the critter eats. Of course you have to collect one first.

they will either not show up at all, or show up with greater frequency only when certain plants are present

That green butterfly is Fern Butterfly! Check the Collection Screen.

You might not notice because you're growing different plants.

The names of the bugs also give you clues.
