Here's a tip I've used for keeping track of cross-breeding and recording the results on an Excel spreadsheet:

I was frustrated that I could hover over a seed on my Seed Screen to see the parents, but then it would disappear when I moved my mouse. I discovered a better way to do this that I thought I would share:

I put my PT window all the way on the left side of my monitor screen. I make sure that the seeds I want to record are in my seed tray (not the seed boxes.) And switch to the Seed Screen

My Excel spreadsheet is on the right so that it overlaps a bit, but still shows the left side of the PT game. I then use the keyboard to navigate to the cells I want to fill in. And use the mouse to hover over the seeds in the seed tray to see the details. That way the pictures of the parent plants stayed displayed. I'll type what I want, and then move the mouse to check out the next seed.

I hope this helps someone. I don't know whther this will also work for people who have Macs.
