I'm still trying to get the hang of catching them....

Where do you want to hold the net to nab those quick little flying ones?

I just chase them around the screen clicking like a loony. XD I think if you hold the net above and to the right of them a bit it works best.

I'll try that. (Been doing the "click like a loony" technique too ;\) ) Some of them are really fast!

Dont know if you guys noticed but every swing of the net is counted and is part of your stats, dont go too mad about it lol. dont go too slow but move carfully, fast movements scare them, but take too long and they will disapear.

No, I did not know that. Oh well. I will go for the leader boards with another "player" once I get the hang of this more.

Where do we read our stats?

Go to the Collect screen and look on the left side below the jars. You'll see the Stats button. \:\)

Yup i didnt realise it at first either, and now mine are super high cause i was clicking the tips faucet while i was holding the net and it counts i guess... thought id make it easier for myself then putting it down and then trying to pick it back up in time to catch a _bug_. clicking through all the tips... lalala.. hundreds of swings later.

One thing I do not really like about the game so far is that the background of the "collection" area is so busy that it is difficult to look at your critters.

I would like to have a patch or some kind of option to have a solid color background of a shade of brown or gray to see them better.

Gatsbi, when I've finished playing my game, I'll see if I can mod it just how you like. \:\)

Whenever possible, try to creep up on the insect from behind, so she can't see you. When the finger of the hand holding the net is almost touching the insect, SWING!

I'm an advocate of the "swing like a lunatic" method of catching bugs, and it often seems to work. At least, with the most geriatric insects. ;\)

Gatsbi, the background image to the Collections screen is called: collections_bg.jpg

If that image is modified or replaced, it may help you.

Warning: Remember to save a copy of the image file before making any changes!

Ive played with the _bug_ background and made it black and white. it looks much better to me, hope this helps.

PLEASE SAVE A COPY OF ALL IMAGES IN A SEPARATE FILE IN YOUR DOCUMENTS FOLDER,(or wherever you want it just not in the plant tycoon files) SO THAT IF THERES A MESS UP YOU CAN REPLACE IT!!

it definately gets easier to catch them when you upgrade the nets! but arnie is right, sneaking up on them slowly and from behind is the best way i have found

Nemyar you pruned a poor defenseless _bug_? \:o

If I see a bee or wasp on there, I'll be doing the same thing!

Just move the net slowly when you are near an insect. Your hand/water/net/shears etc., if moved quickly will cause them to fly or crawl away quickly.

Position over them about a bugs length away then click ;\)

Don't worry early on about the stats, some of the insects are worth 20-40 bucks for duplicates.

common are worth 5, uncommon are worth 20, and rare are worth 40

Admits to being another of the "swing like an idjit" and half the time still miss the lil beggar. Love the game! really dispise some of them picky customers, especially the ones who spend enough time examining the plant for it to die of old age before he\she gets up from his scientific squatting in front of it to check out the pot and walk away. How bloody long does it take to decide if you like the plant or not????????
Also LOVE the new look of these customers. Great hats!

Well I personnally like the background in the collections screen. Also, I found that if you click on the jar the insect not only moves around but the lower screen area will tell you what it is....like uncommon cockroach, common lady _bug_ and so on.

As for catching these bugs, I have a technique that nets them about 35% of the time, wait for them to land. As long as you are carrying the watering pot, soil, shears etc they won't move, then gently pick up your net, and laterally move from the top of the screen towards the insect, (Dangit, I just lost a plant while typing this) anyway creep up on them then swat. If you miss, quickly go to the top of the screen and take one more swat at it, if you miss after two swats give up. They'll be back, promise.

Does anyone have ALL the bugs yet? I'm only at 30 of 48 right now, but I finally got the Level 2 net so that should make them easier to catch!

I believe some bugs only appear with certain plants/flowers. I have 38 of 48 now and only a level 2 net. I have quite a few rare/uncommon, can't wait to see the last few.
