I just got a 40$ maple and Im trying to figure out how I made it lol, I dont remember what seed it came from or what plants I crossed..is there anyway for me to check it when its grown up?

I havent been able to find how to find out it from a mature plant either. Only thing you can do and i know is doubleclick on a pot so you see its seed. If your lucky it has a diffrent form/colour than the other seeds and you may have one of those seeds lying around. Once your plant is mature then i think you can see in the seed box what it was crossed with when you put your mouse over it.

You can see the "parents" of seeds that you have, but the only way to know the lineage of plants that are growing in your greenhouse is to keep track of them. Many people use written notes or spreadsheets for that purpose, and one blank spreadsheet, ready to fill in, is already posted in the Guide Section for Plant Tycoon.

This is a nuisance: 1) You can't see the lineage from the main screen, and 2) you can't see the name of the plant from the seed screen. It works both ways. I'm not sure why it was done this way, though as you point out, LadyCFII, it does force us to use notes/spreadsheets if we want to know (for example) what seed leads to which more valuable plant. Can't say I care much for it, though the rest of the game is a delight.

Ahh!! I'm so glad you said that about double clicking to see the seed in the pot. I didn't know you could do that and kept forgetting which seeds I planted!

Still will. Quite a few seeds have an identical appearance.

I expect LDW thought the game would be too easy otherwise.

PT can be approached in two main ways:

• adopt a careful, methodical route, keeping spreadsheet and maybe other records;
• just play the game.

Obviously there can be shades of grey between the two extremes, but personally I prefer the second route.

Matter of opinion, I suppose. It doesn't raise the difficulty bar, in the sense of making the game more complex before achieving success, but rather, more of a chore--different things. The difficulty derives from removing useful and pretty obvious tools, rather than increasing complexity or adding new goals, for example.



I tend to prefer the second, too, which is why I miss something as simple as the ability to view the name of a plant when I click on a seed--especially when 4 different plants or more produce a seed that's identical. Each to their own, I suppose.

That's a minor frustration of mine, too. I totally understand about having a seed/plant be "Unknown Species" when I've never grown it before, but when I know perfectly well what the plant is and have seeds from self-pollinating that plant, it would be nice to be able to see the name. Like in real life when you plant carrots in a garden and put the little "Carrot" seed package on a popsicle stick in front so you know what is going to grow. lol

i suspect it would have been a pain in the patootie to code the game so that it told you what kind of plant was growing before it was mature if you have already grown it before, because then it would need to specify that you would only know if it was polinated from identical parents! otherwise the surprise of cross pollinating would be gone!
