So I saw on the puzzles thing that the golden child has been born but I can't see it. i guess it could be a girl or boy? but nobody looks special. could it still be in its mom's arms? when will i know which one it is?

Just go through all your villagers on the "details" screen, until you come to one with all the attributes in blue (master of each one). Click on that one; you'll see the golden child.

The golden child just pops up - I don't believe you have to wait for him to be nursed by a mom. He's wearing a cape and will, as Gatewood said, have all skills be at master full blue level. I had fun searching through my 65 villagers to find him when he was first born myself After that he's easy to spot - he does lots of cute and colorful things so you can't miss him!

you're right, the Golden Child doesn't have to nurse for the 2 hours! You'll get a green screen (like an island event) saying that they are born. Good Luck, since it can take awhile for them to come along!

I waited 4-5 days for the GC to show up on my current game. Give it some time!! If you're at 65 for pop it takes longer because the turn over of births can be slow. He'll show up!! Just wait!

The Golden Child does lots of entertaining things (besides solving puzzle 11).

Since the Golden Child is master of everything, why on earth can't he solve puzzle 12? I have started over three times (on different palms) and still can't get puzzle 12. My master builders don't live long enough, and there are no more building challenges to solve so that I can make new master builders. That dad-gummed GC is a master builder, but what good is he?

He can't for several reasons.

1. he is not old enough to work (Child Labor Laws), and
2. He is a spolid little brat and would not work even if the law allowed it.

You are just going to try and plan a little better ahead of time. I try not to do any building until I have medical level 3, thereby making your villages live longer. Then I will only use two villager to do all my building. Doing this I will be able to have two master builders, just incase something happens to one of them. Give that a try.

you have to realize too, that #12 can be solved before the rock is carved. If you use the same villager to clear the beach, and build the huts.... they can get to work on #12 as soon as you have level 3 building. I had my builders doing #12 and the ruins at the same time.

good luck!

OK I gotta ask.........

Once the golden child is born, and a villager then gets to move the rock, is the game over? Is that it? Cuz, that's where I'm at, and I think it's just over.

The game is never "over" technically because you can keep playing with your villagers as long as you want. As far as challenges that LDW has set up, once you do all 12 puzzles that is the end of puzzles. But you can always start over, try a different strategy, up the difficulty level or speed, and have the fun all over again! It's up to you how you want to play, but VS is open ended in that you can continue to support your village even when the puzzles are done.

And as an added comment a lot of us are trying to encourage Arthur and the team to do add-ons in an upgrade so we have more puzzles or areas to explore

The maximum number of villagers can be different, depending upon the device you are using.

I was kind of disappointed with the cave myself Sort of anti-climatic. I'm waiting for Athur to take my "Monster in the cave" suggestion into review for future updates.

I was sort of disapointed with the cave also, I think it should lead to a previously unknown part of the island.

It's unfortunate that you encountered the bug that makes villagers vanish. That's one bug that will certainly be fixed when the update to Village Sim is released. It usually happens when you drag a villager around after you've been playing long enough that villagers have died. There is no way to get your Golden Child back, but if you'll read the topic at the top of the forum, "Help on the last three puzzles," you'll see how to get help on that last puzzle.

The Golden Child sometimes seems to take his (or her) own sweet time when it comes to opening the cave. I've usually had it happen the same day (but I was leaving the game on all the time). Other people have had to wait for a lot longer.

You were doing fine, Morna. You can't make the Golden Child move the boulder. You could try leaving your game on (if possible) like I did - that might make him 'do his thing' more quickly. I've never had to wait even a day, and I know others who played mostly with the game off, in between checking on it, seem to have waited the longest.

aargh.... should have read this post yesterday. Had my GC for about 4 days without her doing anything. I thought I'd left something out too just like Morna and restarted the game just this morning. And yes, I'm like what you said ladycfii, I'm one of those who who played mostly with the game off,(after the GC appeared) in between checking on it.

That seems to be the pattern. One of the beta testers waited over a week for things to happen in one of his tests, but he never left his game on for more than a few minutes at a time.

I played with the game mostly off and I gave up waiting for the GC to do his thing after 14 days. I paused the game and removed it from my palm. I kept the SAVE file and might pick it up again once a patch is released.

What are the factors that the go into getting the golden Child? What is the precentage each time that you turn on your palm that he shows, if you have the requirements met?

The birth of the Golden Child depends upon completing certain puzzles and village tech levels. I won't mention the exact prerequisites here, but I will say that it's not dependent upon level 3 of Harvesting!

In the current release, the birth seems to happen faster when the game is left on than when it's off most of the time.

If you have all the necessary prerequisities, what is the probability that he will show up. I've heard of people waiting to weeks for him. It is like chance that he shows?

It isn't based on probability. The programming is more complex than that - Arthur refers to it as 'emergent behavior' and it's not totally predictable. Some people have waited a long time for the Golden Child, but I believe that's with the game off the majority of the time. I've never waited even a day when I've left the game on.

I've gotten the GC three times so far, and all three times it has been with six hours of reaching level three of fertillity. One of the three times the game was off and when I turned it on I got the message screen informing me of her, and then after I hit ok for that message I got the message screen of the boulder. Boom, baam.

The birth of the GC depends more on Village Tech and other puzzles than time. Once all conditions are met, it's unpredictable how long it will take.
