Currently, I am trying to complete the game without touching the Coconut Resource. It's been a success so far! Also, I had a strange technique of completing Puzzle 7. I kept my water clear (unplagued by algae) until I got enough Tech Points to purchase ( only highlight the white text if you want to know the how I solved Puzzle 7, as I don't want to spoil it for anyone) Level 3 Farming. Then I created a Mass Fishing expedition! So I has all my villagers on Fishing, until the water got plagued by algae. A second later, I purchased the the required Tech and put the algae fish from the diving pool in the clouded water. So, for the entire game, the ocean was only plagued with algae for about 5 min!!

i start all of my games like that
its a slow start most of the time, but i don't have anyone do anything but research
the kids aer hunting mushies, and the all important collectibles for those extra tech points
once i got really lucky and got a rare in the first 10 minutes of the game, and then it popped up again just a few minutes later
i couldn't believe my luck! of course then i got nothing but commons for the next several days, and never did complete any of those collections, so i guess my luck ran out, lol

I can't stand how they climb those trees when there is a perfectly good harvest waiting to be picked. My strategy is to hold off until A) algea comes or B) The dam is finished. If I'm really sore for food and my mushies aren't popping up, I usually purchase the tech - but, it drives me so nutzo watching them climb those trees when there are fish to be had and veggies to be picked. I wish you could snatch them right off of that tree. One time I was lucky enough to have a runner straight away and put her on fishing - that was the beginning of the game I have now. She rocked - fished her little heart out!!

As long as the tribe doesn't grow too large, the villagers can live quite comfortably on the crops alone almost indefinitely. I always treat L3 farming as costing 91500 tech points, and get L2 and L3 together - if I could get L3 without L2 I would.

that's insane! How many researchers do you have?? are you continually mushie hunting? Oh yes. Except I wouldn't call it mushie hunting. More like Mushie harvesting, because mushrooms (red were as common as brown) kept popping up like every minute. Also, the farm helped. I had 6 scientists (2 Master, 4 Adept).

Thats similar to what i did but i also did it at great risk during the building of the dam.
