Hi Guys,

It seems to take me forever to build up tech points!! I have Level 2 Harvesting, Science and Medicine. I have 4 adults and 2 children.

This morning I changed my speed to fast to see if I can't get the kids (ages 7 and 8) up to adult status so I can put them to work researching as well.

Are there any activities or tricks to building up tech points? Or am I just impatient ??

As your scientists gain experience and become masters, they will produce tech points more quickly. But the best way to increase tech points is to grow your population and put the new villagers to work at the research table as soon as they're 14. Just like real life, these things take time! There are a few random events and puzzles that give you bonus tech points, but I wouldn't count on them!

I have 2 Master Scientists and 2 Master Farmers + the 2 male kids.

The beach has been cleared and I have over 1000 in the food bin. Guess I'll breed again and hope for a female!

Yeah, that male-streak happened to me too. I had only had about 12 villagers that were all getting kind of old, but I ended up having about 7 boys before another girl arrived. Though since then, I've had a pretty nice balance and everything's all right. So, if you get discouraged, don't give up, it seems to always correct itself.

WHAT A WONDERFUL GAME!! Playing over a week with my 1st village, (28 people,7 puzzles solved, level 3 harvest, spirit, building)and notice that getting tech. points is frustratingly SLOW and Difficult. WHAT triggers the "tech" points, and do they vary depending on researcher?
When I am very low on food, I pull everyone to farming and food mounts up immediately (kinda what I expected when I dragged all to research). When I check everyone to do research, and dragged them to work bench, the tech "pay off" is painstakingly slow and I begin to run out of food. When I do leave 3-4 harvesting, the rest getting tech points, food still runs out and tech points are so slowly accumulated that I wonder how I will EVER get 250000, 150000, and 240000 (when everytime I buy a level I go to 0).
I was given two of the tech levels by "incidents" happening--should I just expect that to happen again or am I doing something wrong?

Keep at it munchkin. You have the right idea, but just play around with how many villagers are researching and how many are looking for food. Decide what the approach is that you want to take...ie which area you want to move up in level next, and keep working towards your goal. Building up the stability of the village can be slow, but but you should be finding things getting easier now that you have L3 harvesting

When I first started I felt the same way - I was doing well but could not in my wildest dreams imagine how I'd get 250,000 tech points to get some of the level 3s! It's a careful balanced between who is doing what, especially when your population is low. You kind of need to find out for yourself how many you need on harvesting and how many on research.

Keep in mind that villagers with higher skill levels do produce more too - so a master farmer might bring in more food than others, leaving them free to research. I also found that once my population grew and were adults and old enough to work, the food/research balance was easier to maintain. Every village is different it seems so finding who is best at what and making those choses are all up to you! Part of the fun of the game!

Bingo! That sums it up pretty well..You'll be in a better position to get the big points when you are ready for the big ticket items & There's lots of different ways to run your village. My villages for example tend to be sort of Stalinistic/technocratic There's barely enough food but the research table is very crowded, and they get technologies early. Other folks I know take a much more balanced apporoach and they do pretty well too (but their villagers play more However, late game the villages seem to end up fairly similar in terms of quality of life. So I feel that it's really sort of a matter of "role playing" insofar as village management style is concerned.

The "secret" seems to be using Masters to research as soon as possible. I don't know if you can get the little guys to Master at level 2, but keep dragging a couple to the table until the blue line is all the way to the end and your villger is a Master (works on science and farming too). Master scientists seem to jump the tech points high. Another thing is wait for an "incident" to happen--some give tech. points. Munch

Any master in a skill will do that skill more efficiently and in less time. When first starting out if you have a few people on food and a few on research and leave them there forever you'll get masters who can support things once more babies are being born, etc.

And I had the good fortune of SEVERAL random events where I "chose wisely" and got tech levels upped in several areas so I didn't have to use my points. There seriously is a breaking point where your population and your mix of skill levels and people on certain things just seems to make your tech points skyrocket! It takes a while though.
