I'm new here... would like to hear advices on the best way to use tech. points. Currently I'm at level 2 for both harvesting and building. What should I buy next? Science? Medicine? Another level of Harvesting? or something else?

It's hard to say actually!! Medicine is always good so that your villagers live longer, and science helps them get thoes tech points faster!! Personally, the faster I can get to level 3 harvesting the better.... they'll never starve to death with all thoes fish!

What if I currently have 8 people (6 adults and 2 children), with about 500 in the food bin?

if you have that much food, I would suggest putting most of the others to research.. getting tech points is very important to your villager's survival!!

So would you think I should go in this order? - Medicine, Science, Harveting Level 2?

And what exactly does Science help to do?

honestly, I would do the harvesting first always. You'll run out of berries eventually and they will need a way to feed themselves. Other than that... building is important so that you can create more villagers. Then I get medicine, science and then spirituality.

Kelly, if you go to the Village Tech screen, select a technology that interests you, and select the "Info" button (on the left), you'll see a description of that tech and its potential benefits.

Sorry, I have Harvesting level 2 already, I meant should I go for level 3 or wait?

I would always advise to get harvesting 3 as soon as possible, but there are many ways to win the game!! Do what you think is right!

Here is the order I do buy the Tech’s

1. Harvesting Level 2
2. Science Level 2
3. Medicine Level 2
4. Harvesting Level 3
5. Science Level 3
6. Medicine Level 3

The reasoning is first you need a reliable food source, and although the crops come and go, I can easily keep 1200 in the food bin. Medicine level 2 is important if you want the villagers to live past 60 or so, which I believe is important in the early stage of the game. After the six above, I will go with building level 2 and 3. I will through Spiritually level 2 in once I have a dead villager and will leave it bee until I need to go to level 3 at the end of the game.

This of course is just one way to play, and I am flexible after #3 above.
