So, i was wondering if there was a mod to change the collectables on the hut. I found three sets and I really, really don't like the rock. I always want to try to pick it up cuz its soooooo bright!! Thanks for the info (or lack there of if there isn't a way to do it!!) :D:D

Village_monk has done something you may like go HERE and download his mushroom MOD you will find that as well of the mushrooms being different colours the collectables are as well.

After you download the file open it up and check to see if you like the colour of the collectables. Then do as it says in that post to apply it to your game (I HOPE I make sense )

I don't think that what we hear from the sound-track means something special for the game.
The giggling children it's just when they are dancing on the beach!
But it must be confirmed!

was hoping that the owl hooting was a precursor to a new collectable or something. are there sounds that i should listen for, that would/could/should lead me to a new collectable??

I haven't found any sounds being a precursor to an event or collectalbe. I thought for a while the wind chimes, but I never found anything on my quick searching. HIH!

I always thought a collectable appeared either when the water bubbled or when I heard the wind chimes. Perhaps it is coincidence, but 99.5% of the time, there really is a collectable/mushroom that has appeared somewhere on the island! Although, I'm not sure about the hooting owl or giggling children.

I think it is just a part of the sound track for the game.... I have heard it too...
