what I also meant to ask was how many different types are there? maybe I am not seeing it because I am not looking for the right thing? I have found 8 types so far.

There is not much I can do to determine why you might be missing a totem. The log file does not record totem creation, and examining your game would not provide any clues, either. We have seen some indication that villagers who become elders as a result of banging the gong might not get a totem, or the totem might not persist, but that hasn't been substantiated by reliable testing.

Thanks, I haven't had an elder created by banging the gong. I really don't know where it could be. And if you are not able to ascertain anything to assist then I shall just have to keep looking.

I see what you mean by the green blending into the background. when it's by the gong you haven't a hope of spotting it unless you know what you are looking for.

is there anywhere else I should be looking?
