Unfortunately, there is currently no permanent way to train new builders once your villagers have completed all of the construction projects in the village. There is one island event that will provide an opportunity to train a builder - you could see if it comes up.

If you do decide to start over, make sure that you always have at least one builder. I usually have one of my females become very skilled in construction so that she can produce babies with building skills.

Can you tell me what event it is so I dont blow my chance, I dont want to start over again, I think I will wait for the Event. But If I get one Builder to build the hut I can then train more builders, because I have the new hut to train them

You have the right idea. When your beach gets all littered again, you will have the opportunity to train villagers in construction there and on the new hut(s).

That's exactly my problem except with building the 2nd hut - i have
1) no builders at all
2) no place for them to learn to build
3) 15 villagers but no sign of the start of the 2nd hut

Is there anyway to teach them to build or do I need to start a new game to go further? I am beyond needing hints - a private message to tell me what to do would be greatly appreciated!

try setting one of your villagers to build, he may find the location of the 2nd hut on his own....sorry not sure off hand if this will work.

If you tell us what puzzles you have solved as well and what tech levels you have, we may also be able to find you more places to learn building

Thanks for the offer of help. I have tried prioritizing construction and trying to get people to build, but nothing happens (ca. 24 hours of trying). Although as one hopeful sign, I did get a message that housing was needed. I have:
Harvesting - Level 3
Building, Medicine, Science, fertility and spirituality - all level 2
Puzzles - I have solved 1st hut, clearing the beach (a mistake I think!), clearing the blocked creek and the graveyard.

I have 15 villagers, finally lots of food, and a lot of free time for them. If there is anything I can do to get them to learn to build, I would love to keep this game going (I have gotten fond of them!) - otherwise, I would rather know if I just have to start it all over again. It sounds like from ladycfii's post earlier (which for some reason didn't show up on my screen until hours after I sent mine?) like my only chance w/this group of villagers is to wait & see if an Event happens that would give me an opportunity to build. As I understand it, the Events are random & might never occur in a given game? Then I guess I had better be ruthless and start over again....

Don't start over yet! There are still plenty of opportunities to train builders (now that I see the list of what you've accomplished so far). Keep working on technologies and go exploring.

she's right... don't start over yet. The event that she's talking about actually happened to me twice in the same game. You just never know!

Thanks much - I will hang in there (I really didn't want to wipe them out, esp. since they have started doing such cute things!) But if I get desperate, I may post again looking for more specific advice!

I eventually had to create a new village after reaching a population of 65 and building all the huts I could. I wouldn't have done this except I want to see puzzle 12.

AND because my villagers are just insanely stubborn. I suggested high-rises instead of these flimsy huts they've been building. I suggested this to them and told them how they could increase the population without using up more valuable beach space in an attempt to appeal to their baser desire of constant breeding. Well, wouldn't you know it, they didn't like this idea because the scientist labor union didn't want to design a way to get proper water pressure on floors five and above and none of them wanted to live with weak water pressure. You're never met such ungrateful villagers as mine! I threatened to wipe them out and get new villagers. The breaking point was when one of them (Tenai) muttered under her breath, "It'll never happen." Needless to say, I felt I had to follow through. I packed them all in barrels and started over with some new villagers.

I love when a solution presents itself.
