one bloke looks as though he has a coconut on his head. and some of the kids have the same look. i have one 14 year old who already has grey hair!! and another child who looks like he should be in the army, got a buzz cut and all. they just look so funny!!

No it doesn't. There isn't a connection between clothes and name and the only thing I've seen that effects the look of a villager is the parent's looks. And there is one event that changes the looks of the villager depending on the choice you make.
I can tell you for a fact that clothes and names have no connection because I have two villagers with the same name and they have different outfits, and I didn't send them to the sewing hut, either.

I agree, but only in VV2. In VV1 it's random.
