Ok, I thought it would be interesting to get a list of Island Events. Let’s post these as the come your way? Anyone interested?

I’ve had the following that I can remember:

Red vial, made my villager sick
Parrots came down and ate most of my berries
Monkey’s attacked a little villager and injured her
Monkey’s played at my research table caused me to lose 5,968 tech points
Monkey’s played at my research table and did some good research and I got my 5,968 point back.
A villager spotted a strange face, and it turned out to be a master farmer
Another village spotted a strange face, and while getting a closer look, the villager was never seen again.

I think that is all I have seen the first go around.

I had a whale show up- kill it or not. Don't, and your spirituality goes up one level.

There is the fertility fish as well.... spot it and your fertility goes up one level.

I also had the storm that washes away all your food.

guys, sorry to be a spoiler spoiler, but I am not sure if I want to know which choice gives which option on the spoilers

I think (but not confirmed), that drinking the vials does not always give the same result, so be careful how you use the information here as well

On a more useful note:

there is a storm which brings you more debris to clear
there is a drum which you can cut or not
there are other coloured vials that you can drink

I belive you are right, they do different things. One turned a villager back into a child before, so I have heard.

Don't forget the drum. Open it up, the villager becomes a master healer. Decide to use the drum, it rains, and the berry bush is replenished. This has become my most common event (3 out of the 5 events so far).

I had a monkey foolin around the food bin, the villagers chased him off and he had been hiding bananas. I gained 200 food. It happened again and I got 400.
I had vials that poisoned everyone BUT the person who opened it. Only the person who opened it. And some that made them young again.

Also locusts came and destroyed my crops. That's all that is unique (I've had some of the other events mentioned happen as well...

I've just opened a barrel that washed up and it turned out to be full of food - but the last time I opened one of these, it killed a villager.

These events are good - there's no predictable "right" choice.

I just got an event where they made a toxic substance by mistake and wanted to know if they should throw out the contaminated research or just keep going, I figured keep going and hope they just got sick. Well they got brain damaged and all my scientists went back to untrained.

One of my villagers, Keopi, complained that another villager, Mali, created a toxic substance. Well, wouldn't you know it, they put me right in the middle of a domestic dispute. Turns out Keopi and Mali have a few kids and this was his way of complaining about the quality of her cooking. He was all like, "Her cooking is toxic." And she was all like, "Get him out of my kitchen! Why you up under my grill, Keopi?!" It was a mess. I've suggested counseling. Just yesterday, Keopi told me that a whale washed up on shore and he wanted to let it die. Turns out the 'whale' was Mali's mother. I don't think the counseling is working.

I got the following:

Villager ate magical berries that turned him into a kid.
A beached whale was stuck...I killed him for 1000 food.
A crate washes ashore that contained a little boy.
Food went moldy. Did not notice, and it killed off all the elderly.
Another whale was beach, so I freed it for 1 spiritally tech point.
A man arrive on a boat to study the plants. I let him do it, and I got 1 medicine tech point.
Debris washed ashore...this happened about 8 times.

I had a few others I cannot remember.

considering i'm new to the boards i decided to sick my 2 cents in to the circle.

i've had...
the stupid birds that ate half of the berries off the bush.
the savage monkey attack.
the friendly monkey who messed with my reserch and gave me an extra 10000 tech points.

those were the only ones where you had no option of doing anything about it.

Welcome to the forums, Morna! That was a nice research bonus!! I hope your villagers didn't get too hungry after those darn parrots ate the berries!

Tibby: You have an interesting Village. I love to read your posts. Maybe LDW could use your ideas with their next games!

thanks for the welcome ladycfii,
i've been reading the fourms for a few days, ever since i finally checked my email and found out that LDW made a new game and bought it that same day. whew long sentince.
anyway those birds took away most of my berries at the begining of that game but i ended up restarting the game 3 times before i finally got into a groove with this one and now i've learned not to turn on my palm at 5am when i'm half a sleep. when i woke up the next morning i woke up to find out that i restarted the game in my sleep. and that my friends is a HUMAN BUG. ::grins::

On my first game, I had 15 island events by the time I got all but puzzle 12 done. I had debris wash up 3 times and had all my food washed away by a storm 4 times!!! That was really irritating. This game, I have all but puzzles 10 and 11 and have only had a measly 5 island events.

My first game was on easy setting, this game is on medium setting. I wonder if the difficulty level changes the frequency of island events.

I got that one too - way in the beginning - I figured it couldn't hurt to share as I was pretty flush with food, etc. I believe my results were quite pleasant

I like to think this mysterious person was the fish/plant tycoon god/goddess coming to collect some new species for me to plant/breed. But then, I have been called weird

I've had the magic fish of fertility show up about three times between my two games (taking my time), the beached whale almost a half-dozen times, the barrel-o-babies, the strange face that appears in the woods, many-a-storm, of course the drum, and a bunch of others.

Although I don't really want to know exactly how many events there are, I hope to find many, many more new ones. Thanks for such a great game (pass it on).

Do difficulty levels cause more events? I need a master builder and the only way i can trainsomeone is with the debris from the storm.

You cannot predict when an event will happen, which one it will be and for a lot of events, what the best option to pick would be.

If you are happy to simply play around for a while waiting for the storm, feel free, but I personally would suggest you start again, and try working towards a new strategy.

I am currently playing on the hard level, and have had to restart my game many times as my strategy keeps changing depending on the problems I encounter. Part of the challenge with this game is to learn to plan for your skills to be available at the right times and working out which puzzles depend on others. I think it took me at least 4 games before I got things worked out to be able to solve all the puzzles on the normal level

Also, I do not know if there is an effect on changing the difficulty level mid-game. I am not having a lot of events in my difficult game, but then I have played normal games where I have had few events as well. Each game you play is unique, and each set of villagers will have slightly different personalities
