I rang the gong yesterday, and ended up with all my non-pregnant females getting pregnant....one with triplets! It put me at 92 people! What's weird is when you click on them, it shows the momma with a 'generic' looking dad with "?" as his name. Today when I rang the gong, it took the life of the gong-ringer! Its a moody thing!
Any clues on how to get runners? I loved the one I had, and he just died at 77. I wish all men were like that!
I had a problem with a man thinking he was a 'stud-muffin', and knocking up my women as soon as they turned 18! It was funny to watch him 'working' the village, kinda reminded me of an old boyfriend I once had! \:\)

On second thought, could I have a bowel of stew... he doesn't like green....

haha mochajew.
williewonka - to make your game start "ending" :
- put it in 2x speed
- make sure no one is on a "parent" setting
- leave it alone for about a week, most will have died after 3 (our) days

sounds bad, i know. but he asked.

Thanks Twelvies,

I already run at 2x with nobody set at any skill.
I know if I don't return the game will end.
I'm just trying to make it extremely difficult on myself.
I've started trying the other idea of killing everyone who has likes instead of dislikes.
Next, I figure I won't let the women have children until they're 45. That should make things hard.

Thanks again,
Bill

You know after starting this game I left my other Village game (Home one) on it's own for for some time now, and when I went in there yesterday to look they were still going strong. LOL

i have done hair type and clothing villages, but i stay with this game to crack the 'likes running/work, dislikes resting/laundry' code. i have gotten up to four runners at a time, and the more i work on it the more i think there may well be some idiosyncratic way to increase them. its true it rarely inherits down directly ... but all code has a logic unless the choice for running was specially set for random.

i have seen too many times that a dislike of running is direcly inherited to think that liking running would not be likewise doable - though admittedly it must be very arcane \:\)

my biggest hope for VV3 is that the programmers will intentionally work on the genetic heritability point and make it part of the game.

In VV2, the genetics and inherited traits are limited to the villagers' physical appearance. Likes and dislikes are still pretty random.

Here is my system of family tree mapping, which helps reduce certain types of in-breeding for those concerned with it.

My initial males get clan names added to their names, and kinship is patrilineal, though it could easily be the other way. Each breeding male gets 1 to 4 wives with whom he produces 2 to 6 offspring all bearing his clan name. All offspring from any one mother have first names starting with the same letter.

I also record my trees on paper to keep things clear, but full siblings will have names starting with the same letter, and nobody with the same clan name marries unless it cannot be helped, and then it would be cousins or aunt/nephew or uncle/neice. I don't allow parent/child or sibling or half sibling marriages. I try to keep them partnered for life, but with multiple wives. Occasionally if a married male dies and one of the wives is young or has few children, then she will get a second husband and family.

My non-breeding males work only, as do my non-breeding females, though there are fewer of them.

Here is an example:

Nambit Eagle

1. Lennea Wolf: Fezwit Eagle, Fernella Eagle, Fionah Eagle
2. Mahana Wolf: Aykum Eagle, Ayruk Eagle, Alannah Eagle

Taurak Raven

1. Mahinah Wolf: Elora Raven, Elaynah Raven, Evrik Raven

So, of the 2nd generation none of the 6 Eagles would marry, being siblings or half siblings, but a Raven kid could marry an Eagle kid even though they might be cousins (Mahana and Mahinah being full sisters).
