That's pretty impressive! You're the first person that we know of to complete the game on the most difficult setting!

Well, I am impressed. I was playing on the difficult level for almost 200 hours, and couldn't get past 2 tech levels. I was having a problem with running out of food or finding a good time to lose my women to breeding. My original villagers were all starting to die, and I don't have enough new ones to keep the food up I think . That game is on hold for the moment

Thanks guys - I think I was lucky by finally finding a strategy that worked.

Once I got Level 2 harvesting, every night I'd set one researcher and all the rest to farm and leave the game on Slow but switched on in the cradle while I slept. This really got the food up and I could do more research and have babies while I was awake and keeping an eye on it.

Like I said, I started the game at this level loads of times and never got too far. In two of the earlier starts, I got the whale pretty early on, and took the food option so I thought I'd be able to get past the breed versus food problem, but it never worked.

I've now got 1 GC, two doctors and 61 farmers - it's funny watching the queues to water the crops!

You have found the 'magic' combination for success in the game on the hard setting.

How does one begin to get the Islanders to fish for crabs?
My villagers die by the end of my 2nd or 3rd day of playing. Or the children all "disappear" and I'm left with 1 old sick villager and a hungry young one. I'm stumped.

well, they start fishing after you have purchased level 3 of harvesting. Where are you in the game as far as tech point go?

I am running on the easy level (I am very new at this). I have been running on fast during the day and pausing it at night but have just started running it on slow at night.
