Every time I go to the statistics page and try to refresh the game to see my statistics the game locks up. The only way I can get the game to release is if I manually shut down the whole machine. Has anyone else had this problem and how do I fix it?

The usual cause of a game freezing while updating stats is that security software, such as a firewall, is interfering with the game's attempt to connect to the stats server.

As Barbara says, it's likely to be your firewall preventing the game's access to the Internet. If you add the program to the list of allowed programs (how that is done depends on the firewall) you should have no problem. Rather than completely turning off your PC try using CTRL+ALT+DEL to bring up Task Manager, and closing the program from there if the problem persists.

arnie, when I press CTRL+ALT+DEL the task manager comes up, but the locked up game won't disappear so I can see the task manager. With other kinds of lockups I can usually click on the windows key and get to the taskbar, but it won't do it on this one. I recently had to format and reload, and I didn't have this problem before. Can't figure out why I have it now.

Try setting full screen mode to off (from Menu => Options), which will allow you to see what is happening when you try to update the stats. Full screen mode is problematic when you're trying to deal with firewall issues.

Yes, it's possible that the firewall is displaying a message asking if you want to give VV authority to access the Internet, but you can't see it because it's hidden behind the game being played in full screen mode. What happens if you press ALT+TAB?
