I put my elderly man on parenting because he needs one more skill in order to get elder and hes rather adept at it.... His wife is also elderly so I put them on a baby free kissing fest but had to step away from the comp for just a sec. Well I came back to see him and HIS ADULT DAUGHTER headed for the love shack....I broke that up right away! Just nasty I tell ya. Perhaps LDW should put something in to prevent that, considering that the game already knows the lineage of each child born in game?

If they did that, not only would the program be 5X the size, but it would eventually make it so you couldnt have anymore kids being born cause after several generations, their all related somehow.

actually, it would be just the opposite. Earlier generations would probably have a harder time. Once the population grows, as long as more than one male is doing the reproduction, the chances of immediate relatives procreating would decrease.

Love the idea of the maternity scan - would be great to have that in real life too. I know loads of ppl who should have had that done whilst pregnant. I would name some celebs whose parents should have done it too but I dont want to offend anyone or hi-jack the thread. so I shall leave you all to your imaginiations

By far one of the funniest. laughing until I can't stop. They are real!! One day I was going to put the game on pause and found myself worrying about leaving them in the ocean. As I was dragging them out, I reminded myself - they aren't real, this is just a game -- stop it!!

This is just about the funniest thread to follow. We do think a lot of our little villagers and tend to make them more "real" than they are. I think the incest taboo is so deeply ingrained in us that to see it happening in the village just makes us go EEWWWWWW....

I once came back to the computer to find only father and daughter left alive. I had to repopulate the village through incest. It was quite gross to think about, but I got over it quickly.

ok, now i know i'm not the only one dreaming about this silly game. i feel so much better. but. have you ever gotten up to make sure a weakened one is ok?? (vv1, no stews for recoverery) or to make sure the one and only healer is studying the plants, not off playing golf. and what is with the builders. are they cloned from real contractors? they work five minutes and take the rest of the week off. geeesh!! LOL.

I put two really good-looking "people" together...he had dark brown hair in short dreds and she had long auburn hair...I thought they might make the most beautiful child and their kid ended up being bald with a painted face and UGLY! (if anyone's kid actually looks like that, I apologize, I'm sure he's got a great personality...).
What a disappointment! But he liked running and learning...so I let him stick around-I just made sure he didn't breed. And I never put those two together again for fear of what would come next.

I really couldn't care less what my villagers look like. They're all cool in their own way. I've also stopped caring whether parents and siblings go with each other because I have 90 villagers in both my tribes. Kinda hard to keep track.

I have one tribe going right now, that after I introduced the first couples and let them be, all subsequent babies (and there have been 68 now) all the couple have stayed together and no blood lines have been crossed while I wasn't looking, no adulterers. And that's with no coaching from me, I just check up on them.

So, not every game winds up with incest or adultry.

I try to name the children with combination names of the mothers and fathers. The trouble is that when there are so many that look alike except for clothes (and with twins and triplets that gets to be a pain), it's really difficult to out-cross. And sometimes they get away from me...suddenly the number changes, and I didn't mate anyone! Arrgh! And in VV 2, training up Master Doctors is a true time consumer. In VV 1, there is the medicinal cactus, and all your good little Adepts will train up there pretty much by themselves. MJ, I probably need your Matchmaking services! But what happens, if you get these randoms, as I do? (The mother never drops the baby, hopefully.) And, by the time I see who it was, the child is 2!

oh god i know what you mean.. yesterday i accidentally breed two folks when taking them off a chore
then i every time for the next hour that i stepped away from the computer i ended up with another pregnant woman! and no one was on parenting!!

i started with 20 (i did the accidental 21) then i come back and i've got 26 now... annoying.. only good thing was at least twice the same two folks went together lol!

Once you teach a villager how to do something, they will occasionally do that activity, even if you don't have it set as their preferred skill (just like real people).

ROTFLMAO! I have had things like that happen (well, I wasn't trying to breed the cutest ones, I just grabbed the nearest guy and girl and put them together lol). I even had one boy villager who had a Bert-shaped head (as in Bert from Bert&Ernie/Sesame Street). I was half tempted to rename him Bert!
